Asian Institute of Medical Studies Building Community Through Community Involvement
Fall 2009 Cyberletter
|
|

Dear Friends of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (and animal lovers),
The Asian Institute was founded over 9 years ago by four
visionary individuals who had a deep desire to bring quality Asian medicines to the Tucson area. This was accomplished by establishing both
a college of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as well as a community clinic to serve the public. The
Institute's vision is far reaching. Portions of our Mission state:
"The Asian Institute of Medical
Studies believes that healing, teaching and transformation are three faces of
one compassionate, skillful and wise intent. This intent is the common motive
of AIMS that we will enact specifically...by transforming the root causes of
disease and suffering within the greater context of society, environment and
spirit..."
This Mission encompasses not only the individual, but also a
societal and planetary perspective that are so needed in today's world. It is
about the many facets of healing, the evolution of consciousness, taking
responsibility for our actions and well being, and doing the best that each of us can in
regards to service to others. If ever there was a time to incorporate these
virtues into our global consciousness, the time is now.
As the Asian Institute moves into its 10th year, we
celebrate our accomplishments and look forward to continuing to build community
for the next 10 years through our educational programs, our community clinic,
our public and professional education, by participating in research, and
through developing our compassion in service to others.
