The Tao is always at ease. It overcomes without competing, answers without speaking a word, arrives without being summoned, accomplishes without a plan.
Its net covers the whole universe. And though its meshes are wide, it doesn't let a thing slip through.

Somatic Experiencing In-Service at AIMS Paige Peters, L.Ac., recently presented to students, faculty, alumni and staff how to identify and treat the patient with a disregulated nervous system. Paige is being certified as a practitioner of Somatic Experiencing http://www.traumahealing.com which is a body-awareness approach to healing trauma. In her presentation she stressed that in a small percentage of cases a severely disregulated nervous system may be the cause of the syndromes we see in the clinical setting, such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and irritable bowel. In these cases treating only the symptoms might miss the real issue and potentially exacerbate the condition. As our culture gets more stressed, our nervous systems are less resilient. As a collective we are becoming more vulnerable to "overwhelm". Trauma symptoms and varying levels of PTSD can be addressed through somatic experiencing work as well as through acupuncture. |
