Deb Lee Hello TWW Friends!  Happy New Year!

Hello friends!  I am so pleased to be your new Teaming With Wildlife Coordinator at Conservation Federation of Missouri.  The new year is almost here and we have lots of innovative projects in the works.  I know the past couple of months have been quiet, but I assure you our TWW Steering Committee has been fervently pursuing venues for continued funding, issue resolution and new resources for efficient and effective operations.

It has been a whirlwind for the past couple months.  The plan is to have a regular update on a more consistent schedule soon.  The updates may be brief, but we would like to make sure the information is timely.

My first official day was November 1st.  I received a very warm welcome from conservation friends in-state and across the nation.  It is so impressive to see the sheer number of coalition members and the outreach extended by colleagues personally and professionally to ensure the integrity of conservation projects nationwide. I feel extremely fortunate to join this high caliber team!

In case you missed the last Missouri Teaming With Wildlife Update with Amy's farewell, I thought I should let you know that Amy Buechler is now settled in at Missouri Department of Conservation.  She is the Public Involvement Coordinator.  Before my official start date, Amy took time to give me a couple of days of training.  She has been an outstanding leader for the Teaming With Wildlife program.  Her dedication and hard work have given this program a very strong foundation.  I hope to continue with the same enthusiasm she shared over the years and credit her for bringing this program forward.  Much thanks and appreciation goes to Amy for being so helpful in the transition.

Please have a Happy New Year!  I wish you peace, prosperity, good health and much success in 2012!!!

Sincerely,

Debra Lee

Missouri Teaming With Wildlife Coordinator

Mystic COA prairie SWG Update

The"megabus' that would fund the Department of Interior and other federal agencies for the current fiscal year included $61.4M (<1% cut from FY11) for State and Tribal Wildlife Grants.  The Teaming With Wildlife coalition fought hard against the 64% cut proposed in the House of Representatives earlier this year.  On December 16th, the House passed the year-end spending bill by a 296-121 vote.  Passage is anticipated in the Senate after which the President will most likely sign.  FY12 appropriations process was difficult this year.  Although there are a few issues to resolve, it looks like the appropriation will be $61.421M with a 65:35 match.
