Ah-Man Freedom Newsletter October 2009
Hello Friends:

Recently, I was asked about the possibility of conducting some meditation workshop/retreats. I loved the idea!
Then I realized that I'll need to prepare for it.  And what better way to prepare myself then to write a little about it.

It strikes me that the timing is perfect for this particular topic.  After all, October is probably one of the last times of the year when we will have the luxury of planning uninterrupted time for meditation and reflection. In just a few short weeks, we are going to be up to our necks in the hustle and bustle and general distraction of the holiday season.

I invite you to join me this month at the Ah-Man Blog for a deeper contemplation of meditation.  Whether you are seeking an enhanced state of consciousness, more lasered life focus, a heightened sense of self, greater creativity or peace of mind, I promise not to disappoint.

And to kick things off, in this month's featured article I share the story of how my journey of meditation began with George Harrison, of all people!

Finally, this month I'm introducing a valuable new resource to you.  Be sure to check out the article on obtaining emotional and financial empowerment.

As always, I thank you for taking the time to read the Ah-Man Newsletter.  I hope it helps connect you a bit more to your spirituality. Until next month.

Namaste,

Michael
MEDITATING WITH GEORGE

I've been actively meditating since 1972, when I was 16 years old.  There was some kind of meditation in church when I was growing up, but I didn't participate.  Believe it or not, my first experience with meditation was listening to "My Sweet Lord," by George Harrison.  As I listened, the chanting in the background became more and more clear, and I just focused on that part of the song.

I'd heard the song before.  George was my favorite Beatle, partly because he was a Pisces like me.  (George was born on February 25th; I was born on the 28th.)  I followed him closely after watching the Beatles in their debut TV appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show.

I heard the chanting in the song, but I didn't know what it was.  It was around Christmas time and, at first, all I heard was the hallelujah part.  But then the Hare Krishna mantra started to seep through to my consciousness and heart, and that is what I focused on.

After that, I did what most teenagers did in the seventies.  I burned a candle and focused on the flame, trying to clear my mind of thoughts and just focus on the light.  In the beginning, it was quite frustrating.  I got headaches.  And the more I tried to stop the thoughts in my head, the more they came.  But eventually I felt some stillness and silence that brought some peacefulness over me.

But I never experienced the joy that came from listening to the chanting of the holy names of God, over and over.

Since then, I became a monk, and practiced meditation in an ashram for a few years, but I eventually left.  After tasting something so sweet, joyful, and delicious, I tried to replace it with many other things, none of which did the trick, however.

In the upcoming weeks on my Ah-Man Blog, I will explain what meditation is, the different types of meditation, the importance of it in our daily lives, and the difference between practicing meditation in the Present and in the Presence.

NEW RETREATS AND SPEAKING EVENTS

When it comes to learning how to cope and enrich your life, sharing the thoughts and experiences of others via blog can be effective, but nothing beats the healing impact of human interaction.  And that's what I provide at my retreats.  You will better understand your own life experiences and the resulting disconnection from your heart.  My goal - and passion - is to help you open your heart and find the freedom and joy we are all meant to experience.  Please share this information with those who have a need.

FINDING PEACE THROUGH FORGIVENESS HALF-DAY RETREAT

This retreat is designed for anyone who has experienced hurt in their life.  The pain we feel from being hurt continues to manifest itself in our lives.  Resentment and pain continue to affect our thoughts and the decisions we make, either knowingly or, in most cases, unknowingly.  During the retreat, I will share my own miraculous experiences with forgiveness and show how forgiveness cannot happen without healing on the Emotional, Spiritual and/or Mystical levels.  I will also expose some of the myths about forgiveness.  During the session, I will also guide attendees through meditations of forgiveness.  This retreat will invite you to see opportunities to grow where there were none.

Elizabeth Brown TRANSFORMATION THROUGH EMPOWERMENT

Empowerment methodology is based on the premise that our thoughts and beliefs create the conditions of our life; if we want to bring about changes in our lives we need to first recognize and then change the unconscious beliefs imprinted on us long long ago.

My life partner, Elizabeth Brown, is a Certified Empowerment Coach and a Certified Public Accountant. For the past 22 years, she has helped individuals and businesses have more clarity, control, freedom and peace of mind with their finances.

As a coach, Liz empowers people to dream boldly and courageously, and helps them move through fear and into vision. She incorporates Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping) into her life coaching practice, and has seen how rapidly and effectively it targets the underlying blocks that prevent us from stepping into the life we truly desire.

For more information about Liz and her upcoming workshops on "Money" and "Emotional Freedom Technique," visit her Transformation through Empowerment web site.  I promise you it will be time well spent.
