Ah-Man Freedom Newsletter June 2009
Hello Friends:

I want to thank all of you who took the time to fill out my survey. If you didn't get a chance to complete the survey, there is still time: Ah-Man Newsletter and Blog Survey ... and I would deeply appreciate it.

My May Newsletter and Ah-Man Blog posts focused on Mothers and the Divine Feminine Energy of God, which was appropriate for the month that includes Mother's Day.

This month, we acknowledge all those wonderful men in our lives who may or may not have been fathers, but in some way have been "like" a father to us.

It seems appropriate to start by sharing a wonderful healing experience I had several years ago, involving my father.  At the time of this experience, had passed away over 30 years before, which is part of the awesome power of forgiveness I'd like to share.

I'll provide just an overview of my story here, but during the next few weeks I will share the rest of the story in the Ah-Man Blog.

Namaste,

Michael
DAD

Growing up, I didn't get to experience the same Dad my older siblings had the chance to know.  At the time of my earliest memories, he was well into his active alcoholism.  Unfortunately, those memories were painful.

The healing of those memories was a long process.  It started about 19 years ago while I was in my first (and, hopefully, my last) rehab facility for alcoholism.  The staff was explaining the "disease" of alcoholism and showing pictures of the advanced stages of cirrhosis of the liver.  And there were pictures on men and women who looked just like my parents during their last stages of cirrhosis.  I finally got it that both my parents were sick.  It wasn't a moral issue; they weren't mentally or physically sound.

Time passed and I went through 10 years of therapy, psycho drama, and all sorts of different programs for help.  The pain and resentment I felt were dissipating, but some negative emotions still lingered from those memories.  I finally made a trip to Ireland to see my Dad's younger sister, his only living sibling left in Ireland.  Dad had 11 siblings and only three were still living, the other two being in England and the Canary Islands.

I wanted to try and capture different impressions of my Dad by asking her about my his youth.  She shared with me some deep and touching memories of him as her older brother, things I wouldn't have thought of about my Dad.  They were ordinary things that big brothers do for their younger siblings, but I had never seen my Dad in that light.  More of the scales of anger and resentment fell off, but deep down a knot of pain remained that still needed a healing or a touch from above; a healing that didn't transpire no matter how hard I tried.  I didn't realize it at the time, but I can say it now.  Back then, I thought "I" had to do more work.

Then, one morning while I was meditating, it happened.  On Father's Day.  While I was in a deep meditation of silence, a memory of my dad and me surfaced, and I re-lived the memory as if it were happening right then and there.

GRILL IN STYLE THIS SUMMER

Now that June has arrived, the official start of summer is just around the corner!  I can almost smell the heady aroma of hickory and mesquite, as grills around the country are being fired up for the all-important grilling season!

If you want to make a real fashion statement at your cookouts (or your cook-ins) this season, join the barbecue fashionistas and check out the Ah-Man Apron.

It's trendy, it's now and it's a conversation starter.  And it is a unique gift idea for your favorite grill-master or grill-mistress.

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS AND SPEAKING EVENTS

When it comes to learning how to cope and enrich your life, sharing the thoughts and experiences of others via blog can be effective, but nothing beats the healing impact of human interaction.  And that's what I provide at my workshops.  You will better understand your own life experiences and the resulting disconnection from your heart.  My goal - and passion - is to help you open your heart and find the freedom and joy we are all meant to experience.  Please share this information with those who have a need.
