Lone Tree Chamber Chatter
News & Events from your Chamber, August 2011

|
| Greetings!
The Lone Tree Chamber is slowing down after a busy summer full of member and community events. I wish to recognize a few of the amazing chamber members and volunteers who truly made it all possible. Vivian Kovacs, Landscape Forms and Donna Russell, founder of the Chamber, worked tirelessly for more than eight months on A Taste of Lone Tree, Art & Food Festival. This showcase weekend takes hours of logistical and organizational planning to be the success it continues to be, thank you ladies! The event weekend is full of volunteer responsibilities, and Marcy Thompson, First Commercial Bank did an exceptional job recruiting and managing the event volunteer needs, thanks Marcy. There were a special group of teens, part of Youth Leadership Douglas County, throughout the weekend, who showed up and worked really hard all weekend, thank you so much for your commitment to our event. To Christie Edwards for always stepping up to support all of our events, as a volunteer and as a committee member - thanks, Christie. And last, but not least, to our members who serve on the planning committees of all of our community and member events, without you, these programs and visibility opportunities would not be possible - thank you.
With all that said, it is time once again to build our committees for the next season of events. If you have an interest or would like to learn more about what opportunities are available to you as a member of the Chamber, please give me a call or send me an email. I welcome the chance to discuss those opportunities with you.
Be sure to mark your calendars for October 5th, this will be our regular business after hours hosted by FirstBank, Lone Tree, as well as our Annual Meeting which includes the elections for the 2012 Board of Directors.
1) 2-3 paragraph bio 2) brief outline of strengths you possess that you believe is a good fit for a Chamber board member 3) As a board member, what activities of the Chamber do you think best match your areas of experience and/or expertise

A Taste of Lone Tree 2011
Donna Russell, Taste 2011 Co-Chair
Vivian Kovacs, Taste 2011 Co-Chair
Lincoln Commons at RidgeGate proved a wonderful host for this year's event! This was the fourth year for our premier Lone Tree Festival - and it seems to get better each year. With more restaurants per capita than any other city in the state, we like to say that "Lone Tree is the restaurant capital of Colorado." One of our goals in organizing this event is to showcase the crème de la crème of those restaurants. This goal was certainly met by our wonderful restaurants who provided equally wonderful tastes that were appreciated by all.
Patrons of the festival also enjoyed the work of fifty fine artists who displayed their beautiful handmade works in paint, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture and much, much more. Darren Skanson and CCM Events coordinated the artists' participation for A Taste of Lone Tree as well as providing his own classical guitar concerts in "center stage" throughout the event.
We combined the beer and wine tent this year, to everyone's rave reviews. Lukas Liquor was the host of this popular attraction, where live entertainment was provided for the first time. Bill Sparkman played guitar and sang for two hours each day, then Dez Rubano and Friends played jazz another two hours each day. Other live entertainment - clowns, jugglers, face painting - played in the family friendly area throughout the two days of the festival.
Marcy Thompson from First Commercial Bank was our Fantastic volunteer coordinator and her volunteer team was well organized and very effective.
This year's "Taste" was one of the first ever festivals of its kind in Colorado to provide power without diesel or propane generators and instead use all solar powered mobile generators - provided by Solarover, a Lone Tree based company.
In addition, Lone Tree's fabulous new Lone Tree Art Center opened two weeks after A Taste of Lone Tree, and offered tours of their new facility through their presence at the Taste event. It was the first time the Lone Tree Art Center was open to the public, and it proved to be a very popular attraction.
We'd like to express a loud and sincere thank you to all of you who made A Taste of Lone Tree 2011 such a great success! Two days of beautiful Colorado weather at a great venue, fabulous restaurants and food (creme de la creme indeed), dedicated service providers, great art, wonderful entertainment, and generous sponsors ensured a tasting experience that was a feast for both eyes and palate.
Without you, that would not be possible. Thank you for your support and participation in Lone Tree's premier event. We hope to see you again next year.

Lone Tree Arts Center Gala prooved a truly enchanted evening
Guests dressed in their finest black tie attire opened the new Lone Tree Arts Center on Saturday evening with a reception and silent auction, a dinner by Epicurean in a tent dressed by Bouquets, and a performance by Tony Award-winner Brian Stokes Mitchell. A highlight of the performance was Mr. Mitchell complimenting architects, Paul Westlake and Bradford Watson of Westlake Reed Leskosky, about the excellent acoustics in the new theater. He then put down his microphone and sang "This Nearly Was Mine" from South Pacific without any amplification - leading to one of many standing ovations. Among the guests were DCPA Chairman Dan Ritchie and Trustee Joy Burns; government and arts officials from Lone Tree, Arvada, Parker, Centennial, Douglas County and Governor Hickenlooper's office; and Arts Center donors including SCFD, Park Meadows Retail Resort, RidgeGate, Wells Fargo, Sky Ridge Medical Center, US Bank, GE Johnson Construction, Stifel Nicolaus, Kaiser Permanente, Vectra Bank, the Lone Tree Cultural Arts Foundation, the Lone Tree Arts Center Guild, and Clifton Gunderson, LLP. The evening ended with an encore performance of "The Impossible Dream" from Man of La Mancha.
