News & Events from your Chamber, July 2011

|
Greetings!
I do hope you are enjoying your summer, just a few quick reminders and some information on upcoming events in your Chamber of Commerce. A Taste of Lone Tree, Food & Art Festival is still in need of a few volunteers for the weekend of August 13 & 14, if you are interested in volunteering, you can contact this years Volunteer coordinator, Marcy Thompson, First Commercial Bank, or the event Co-Chairs: Donna Russell or Vivian Kovacs, Landscape Forms. This annual premier chamber event is a cornerstone to the chambers community events. For two days a year, since 2008, the Chamber has provided a venue where Lone Tree restaurants & hi-end artisans can showcase their offerings. For 2011, we are pleased to be partnering with Lincoln Commons as the host, and is excited to be offering tours of the Lone Tree Arts Center for interested Taste patrons during the weekend. Don't miss this wonderful event. The final design for the Douglas County Veterans Monument has been made. It is an original bronze monument, as yet unnamed, designed by William Hueg, Peacock Studios, Inc. of Westminster, Colorado. The Monument is to honor those who have served and are serving their country - all wars - all branches. Learn more about this incredible project by viewing the press release, or visiting their website: www.dcvmf.orgLone Tree resident, Julie Schrock is a "Gold Star" family (families that have lost a family member in active service). Her son Max was a Marine doghandler and was wounded/killed in Afghanistan last August. She wrote a book about her experiences this past year. www.missingmax2011.com. She would like to invite you to a Street Dedication for her son Max in Highlands Ranch at 10:00am Friday August 5. She raised her boys in Highlands Ranch. It's at the Town Center, across from Tattered Cover. On another note, all members, please remember to use the online member portal (accessible through the home page of the website), to keep your business listing updated, add HOT DEALS or list JOB OPENINGS and EVENTS.

Chairman's Corner
We've hit that time of the year when it's simply HOT! Another thing that's simple is our HOT DEALS on the Chamber Website. Every business needs an extra boost or wants to promote a new product or location. Take advantage of this opportunity to advertise your company with a special deal!
Speaking of deals, that's A Taste of Lone Tree. Every year I'm amazed by the delicious food our local restaurants provide. August 13th & 14th we'll be at the Lincoln Commons chowing down, come join us for this special community event.
Michelle is already sending out info on the "Head South for the Holidays!" promotion. Jump on that same band wagon and start thinking about special celebrations for your business. Our Business After Hours book up fast each year, so now's the perfect time to talk with Matt Gucini, Edward Jones, about featuring your company during 2012.
