We've all heard the saying, "Charity begins at home." On March 12th, The Giving Tree, Lone Tree United Against Hunger's 3rd Annual Food Drive will be taking place at the Safeway parking lot, Lincoln & Yosemite.
Last year this organization collected over 32,000 pounds of food! This is the largest one day food drive in Douglas County. If you haven't been hit by this tough economy, you probably have friends or family who have and the food bank can mean the difference between feeding your family or doing without.
The food drive is being lead by Susan Squyer, she was our Community Volunteer of the Year in 2009 and she continues to do great work. The Giving Tree has brought together an amazing group this year. Representatives from The City of Lone Tree, the Douglas County Libraries, Douglas County Youth Comission, local high schools, the Lone Tree Chamber and the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce and many more. It's exciting to see the community involvement in this worthy cause.
Please join us on Saturday, March 12th, from 9am - 2pm. Your donations will be greatly appreciated and if you have a couple of hours to spare, we could always use some extra hands to help load the trucks.
