The Council will hold its Annual Members Meeting on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. at Lockheed Martin in Crystal City.  At this members-only luncheon meeting, the Council will present its 2010 Annual Report and discuss our strategic vision and programs for 2011.  Your attendance is greatly appreciated for this once-a-year meeting that provides our members with the opportunity to get updated on your investment in the Council, learn more about our committees, and provide guidance for the future.  REGISTER NOW

Upcoming Monographs Need a Sponsor!  

 

As you know, on the 10th of every month, the Council publishes a new monograph on critical topics to homeland security.  If your company is interested in sponsoring a monograph, you will be interviewed extensively, have final approval over the document and receive two full page color ads in the piece.

The 2nd Annual Aspen Security Forum will be held July 27 to July 30 in Aspen, Colorado.  The Aspen Institute is offering a special discounted rate to all Council members. tlcTHOUGHT LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE  

On February 28, members on the Thought Leadership Committee met and continued to discuss the consolidation of the workgroups from eight down to five topic areas. The committee's work in 2011 will focus on reaching out to DHS officials to develop a collaborative approach to the workgroup's mission and output.  If you are interested in co-chairing, joining one of the workgroups, contact Kristina Tanasichuk at ktanasichuk@homelandcouncil.org.

ertfisherEXECUTIVE ROUNDTABLE WITH BORDER PATROL  

fisherbecraftMichael Fisher, Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, spoke to senior executives at our February Executive Roundtable.  Chief Fisher discussed the Department's border patrol strategies, enforcement on the northern and southern borders, and the Border Patrol's  partnerships with other law enforcement agencies.  Additionally, Council members learned more about the Border Patrol's jurisdictional authorities and Corridor Campaign Planning.  The Council thanks Mike Becraft, Senior Vice President, Serco, for moderating the discussion.

On February 23rd, Tyco hosted the Council's Public Policy Committee Luncheon with Elliott Williams, ICE Assistant Director of Congressional Affairs. Among the topics discussed were ICE's current operations, the successes and challenges the agency faces, and how the agency plans to prioritize its missions.

Council members and friends gathered at the Phoenix Park Hotel for our quarterly Homeland Security Industry-Government Reception on February 24. USSS Director Mark Sullivan, along other high-level senior executives in government joined us. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next event!
