TANASICHUK NAMED TO USCG MUTUAL ASSISTANCE BOARD OF CONTROL | | Council Vice President Kristina Tanasichuk was named by Commandant Robert Papp to the Board of Control for USCG Mutual Assistance. Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) is the official relief society of the U.S. Coast Guard. CGMA is a non-profit charitable organization established to provide financial aid to the entire Coast Guard family. While CGMA works closely with the U.S. Coast Guard, it is an independent corporation. Its mission is to promote the financial stability and general well being of Coast Guard people through interest-free loans, grants, and financial counseling. Congratulations! |

| UNDER SECRETARY RAND BEERS MEETS WITH COUNCIL MEMBERS | |
 Rand Beers, Under Secretary for the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD), spoke to a group of senior executives at the Council's June Executive Roundtable. Under Secretary Beers discussed the vast roles and responsibilities he has at the Department, and updated members on NPPD's work with cybersecurity and infrastructure protection. He also discussed private-public partnerships, and the need for the private sector to report cyber intrusions to the federal government.

The Mission of Women in Homeland Security is to provide a professional organization for women working in the field of homeland security. As a relatively new field, the organization strives to provide women with a forum to learn about the many facets of the discipline and to build the connections necessary for their own professional development and for the connections needed to understand the full spectrum of homeland security. Women in Homeland Security is also committed to assuring that we never forget the threat of terrorism and the need for our nation to maintain its vigilance -- despite the absence of a terrorist attack since September 11, 2001.
