AVIATION SECURITY TECHNOLOGY DEMONSTRATION ON CAPITOL HILL

In coordination with the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security, the Council will facilitate a technology solutions demonstration focused on aviation security on Capitol Hill on Thursday, May 27, 2010.  The purpose is to educate members of Congress and their staff on the capabilities of technologies designed to protect, respond and or recover aviation security incidents. The focus will be on passenger, cargo and facilities security solutions.

THOUGHT LEADERSHIP WORKING GROUPS BEGIN
The Thought Leadership Committee has finalized the Council's platform on federal contracting, and has formed numerous workgroups to develop vehicles to highlight members' points of view on critical topic areas. Each work group will be led by a member of the Thought Leadership Committee and develop their concept papers for a full meeting of the Committee in June.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Members of the Council's Government Affairs Committee heard from Mike McBride, Minority Staff Director, Subcommittee on State, Local and Private Sector Preparedness and Integration, U.S. Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee at a luncheon hosted by Hassett Willis & Company on April 16.   Mike discussed the Subcommittee's examination of state and local fusion centers, coordinating with the private sector, and provided members with an update on other legislative matters in the U.S. Senate.
