EXECUTIVE ROUNDTABLE WITH DHS ASSISTANT SECRETARY SMITH
 AbelSmithPearlERTFeb10
Council members heard from Douglas Smith, Assistant Secretary for the Private Sector, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, at an Executive Roundtable held on February 23, 2010.  The Assistant Secretary stated the importance he and the Secretary place on the role and responsibility of the private sector in providing homeland security solutions, and reiterated the need for renewed outreach efforts to improve communication between industry and government.  The Council will be following up with the Private Sector Office to develop a more regular form of communication between our industry and our counterparts in the public sector to discuss critical issues of mutual concern, and to create a more open dialogue.

If you are interested in taking part in these efforts, please contact Kristina Tanasichuk and begin taking an active role in our Thought Leadership Committee and our newly forming working groups.  We look forward to keeping you abreast of the future follow up activities and initiatives.   Special thanks to Dave Abel from IBM for moderating the discussion, and speaking on behalf of the Council.
DHS COMMERCIALIZATION PACKAGE
After the Executive Roundtable, Assistant Secretary Smith provided the Council with the Office of Science & Technology's Commercialization Full Response Package.  The new packet, developed in conjunction with Tom Cellucci of S&T significantly streamlines the application process to the Department and allows the one application to be shared with all components of DHS.  View the full package here.

Please inform the Council if your company will benefit from this package or if you have any comments on it so we can continue the dialogue with Assistant Secretary Smith.
