| COUNCIL CELEBRATES FIFTH ANNIVERSARY |
The Council kicked off a year-long celebration of its 5th anniversary at the Annual Dinner last Thursday, December 10 at the Willard InterContinental Hotel. In honor of his service to our nation, the Council presented Admiral Thad Allen, Commandant of the United States Coast Guard, with the Lifetime Distinguished Service Award. View press release here.
Oracle and The Tauri Group were named the 2009 Council Members of the Year. View press release here. The Council also recognized Tab Warlitner and Frank Pugliese for their leadership and commitment to the sucess of the Council. Mr. Pugliese's term as Chair will end in January and Warlitner will rotate off the Board after two years of service.

As part of our new website, the Council has started to compile and develop a Digital Library that features your white papers and thought leadership pieces. Currently organized by topic, the Council invites you to submit papers you'd like included in this comprehensive resource of private sector thought leadership (and/or forward this to your marketing division) to assure we have represented your company and your views. Jake Olcott, Staff Director of the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity, Science and Technology for the House Committee on Homeland Security, spoke to approximately 25 Council members on November 13th. Jake discussed the pending and upcoming 2010 legislative issues and challenges being addressed in the Committee, particularly the DHS S&T Authorization Bill, the cybersecurity legislative/regulatory initiatives currently circulating the Hill, and the Multi-State Information Sharing & Analysis Center Program. Thank you to Craig Sharman, vice chair of the Council's Government Affairs Committee and Tyco for hosting this important meeting.
