New titles
Congratulations to the following faculty for their recent promotions and achievements:
Mark McGlothlin has been granted tenure and promoted to ARC associate professor, and Margaret Portillo, IND chair, has been promoted to professor.
Candy Carmel-Gilfilen, IND assistant professor, and Maruja Torres, IND associate professor, received their LEED AP.
Marty Hylton, IND assistant professor, is the new director of the Preservation Institute: Nantucket (view this summer's PI:N photos). |

About the Editor
Alexandra Layos will be taking over as editor of DCP News.
Allie is a master's student in the College of Journalism and Communications and the new graduate assistant for DCP Information & Publication Services.
Originally from Pennsylvania, she spent four years in Missouri where she received bachelor's degrees in both communications and equestrian science from William Woods University.
She has worked at a variety of magazines and newspapers, and spent her undergraduate years working for the college's university relations office, writing press releases and working on the alumni magazine. A lover of fiction, Allie also has three books published and hopes to find time to write many more.

Events
Architecture Lecture Series Oct. 12: Juhani Pallasmaa, an architect and professor from Helsinki, Finland, will present "Touching the World-Architecture and the Senses," from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Norman Hall.
Building Construction Career Fair Oct. 13: Each year over 100 companies and over 400 students attend the career fair. This semester's fair will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
BCN Homecoming BBQ
Oct. 17: The Gators are scheduled to play Arkansas. Plan to stop at Rinker Hall at 9:30 a.m. for a tour of Rinker Hall, the Charles R. Perry Construction Yard and to visit with fellow alumni. BBQ runs from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Architecture Lecture Series Oct. 22: Heinz Tesar, an architect and a professor from Vienna, Austria, will present "Recent Works-Architecture of Layers," from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Norman Hall.
