Greetings!
While I would love to say check out the one item below, I am excited to tell you there is A LOT more than one item to look at!
First of all, welcome to our annual Conference & Trade Show edition. We have compiled a list of the most prominent national events below by trade (event pros and amusement pros). We also have a couple of great press opportunities for planners and a fantastic promotion for rental companies interested in software to help manage their businesses (get a free iPad in the process). Don't miss them!
Since we are on the cusp of conference season and I always get asked whether these events are a worthwhile investment, I have to tell you about my trip to Kalamazoo and Chicago for a conference two weeks ago.
It was superb! I still smile when I think about the amazing people I met - many of whom have already become friends and associates. The keynote speakers and educational sessions were encouraging and enlightening. I came back refreshed, full of ideas and roaring to go. That's what a conference does for you! I recommend you find the one that best fits what you need, bite the proverbial bullet and GO!
Moving along...I am excited to report phase one of our new site will be launching at the end of the month! Yeah! Along with the new site and new logo will come a new look for all of our social media and newsletter. Watch for them!
Last, but certainly not least, our Southern California chapter will hold it's first-ever Chapter event on 10/26 (more info in left column). We are super excited to tell you Marley Majcher, The Party Goddess, will be giving away the secrets to building a successful business! If you are nearby - come! Just a heads-up: New Orleans, Chicago, Atlanta and DC are not far behind!

WHAT'S NEW FOR EVENT PROFESSIONALS

Editorial and Publicity Opportunities for Event Professionals
We were recently contacted by Karin Beuerlein, a writer on assignment for HGTV.com and sister network DIY to produce two articles. Karin has asked for assistance from event professionals interested in participating.
1. HGTV Article Titled: "10 Top Tips for Entertaining Stylishly Outdoors."
The Opportunity: Karin/HGTV.com is looking for expert event planners who can offer a great tip (or several) about stylishly entertaining *outdoors* and can provide a high-res photo to illustrate that tip. Each expert will be quoted/cited directly in the piece and we'll link to the expert's site, if applicable. Photos must meet these specs:
JPG format (if you cannot submit .JPG, .tif or .bmp are acceptable)
Resolution: 150 dpi or greater
Dimensions: 640 x 480 pixels minimum for horizontal and 730 x 840 for vertical
Remember, the time for taking outdoor photos is drawing short so get your shots now. Send your contact information, ideas and photos to Karin at karin@karinbeuerlein.com.
2. DIY feature looks at clever ways to make room for guests--converting existing space to prep for big parties, indoor or outdoor.
The Opportunity: These ideas don't have to be focused totally on outdoor - indoor ideas on maximizing space to accommodate a crowd will work too. Things like - turning the laundry room into a beverage center, fill the sink with bottles and cans and turn the washer into a bar.
Per Karin, "This piece would be a bit more focused toward practical tips for DIYers than toward stylish design (a la HGTV), but I would think event planners would be fabulous resources for this. This one doesn't have to have a photo per tip, either, but I am looking for some photos to accompany it.
