Greetings!
Wow, I have so much
information to share with you that I actually had to hold some back for the
next couple of issues! First of all, you will notice that this newsletter is just for those in the amusement
industry. EPA event
& wedding planning industry members now also have their own
newsletter. If you find you are getting the wrong newsletter or want to
get both please email to let
me know.
Now for the juice... we are continuing our discussion on marketing your
company. If you haven't made the leap into social media, this edition
will help you get started. I know it can be hard to get your arms around
it, but we are all in it together. Some are just further along than
others (lol).
I also want to give you a heads-up on an insurance issue we are starting to see much more frequently. Please see the article below.
Finally, I know you will enjoy Beth Standlee's article on the attributes of
leadership. We all have the opportunity to be leaders in our businesses,
communities, and in our industry. I believe servant leadership is the key
and I am proud to serve you as you build your business and serve the community.
As always, I would love to hear your suggestions, ideas and needs - click here to email me.
Wishing you a fantastic July,
Kim

LOW COST - HIGH POTENTIAL MEDIA
|
The third installment in our series on marketing your company takes us
to the social media phenomenon. We'll look at why it makes sense to
include it in your marketing strategy and practical steps to make it
work for you.
Just as it is nearly impossible to build a business without a
website, many now believe that if you do not have a presence in social
media, you will be overlooked.
This statement is one of those hit you in the face kind of
realizations. If you are like many, you may feel this social media
phenomenon amounts to just "one more thing to do." Or, you may be one
who has embraced the opportunity and now you just need to fine tune your
objectives. No matter which of the two describes you, the bottom line
is that the way business is done in most sectors is changing rapidly and
business owners must adapt.
You can get started in two simple steps...
Social marketing on platforms such as blogs, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and
MySpace, is really, at its core, relationship marketing. Social marketing differs from traditional push oriented marketing in
which the marketer pushes information via emails, flyers, consumer showcases
and various other forms of advertising to the potential c ustomer.
It allows a two-way conversation
through which you develop relationships with your "followers." This push/pull
format builds trust and credibility which in turn builds your business. As a
bonus, you can get feedback and learn from your potential customers!

ARE YOU REALLY COVERED?
| Over the last couple of months we have had several instances of inflatable companies coming to us with the wrong type of insurance coverage.
After further investigation we found that these business owners had gone to their local agent who provided a Business Owners Policy (BOP). While this type of policy has its place in protecting a business from potential liabilities, unfortunately, this isn't it as amusement devices are typically listed as exclusions from coverage.
Most recently, we talked with a business owner who should have been rated for exposure at nearly $5,000 in annual premium but, instead was paying about $500 for a BOP policy. While that low premium was great for his wallet at the time, he now has the potential for financial disaster should someone sue him for injuries sustained during the period of inadequate coverage. Now, he can only hope the statute of limitations runs out before a claim is filed!

IS YOUR LEADERSHIP SHOWING?
| |
by Beth Standlee, Trainertainment
I believe that most people that read
this newsletter are leaders, supervisors, owners, and influencers of some kind.
We all influence or have some leadership roles with someone or ones in our
lives. How are you showing up when it comes to leadership?
Whether you believe in scripture or
not, Exodus provides great insight to the visual presence of leadership. Exodus
13:21 says that God led his people out of Egypt with a cloud by day and fire
by night. When I read this scripture it struck me that leadership has a real
presence that others can see. It takes different shape depending on the
situation.
In the fast paced world we live in, people move
in and out of our businesses very quickly. Those that show themselves as
leaders demand to be promoted. Our young leaders today have a confidence that
they can get the job done, but may lack the wisdom of what leadership looks
like. Oh wait, that can apply to mature leaders too!
I don't know that I'm an expert in what leadership looks like but I have
noticed that these 5 things inspire others to follow:
