Nursing Students Get Pins

On December 16, 57 nursing students marked the completion of their program at a pinning ceremony. The emotional ceremony, which packed the Goodwin auditorium with family and friends, marked the culmination of years of hard work and personal sacrifice. The Goodwin community congratulates these nurses-to-be!

“Mr. Goodwin” Pageant Showcases Talent

The Mr. Goodwin pageant, expertly directed and emceed by student Tommy Correa, was a hit with the audience December 17. Ten Goodwin students vied for the title, showcasing dance, musical, and poetic talents. Special congratulations go to Criminal Justice student Marcus Glenn, aka Mr. Goodwin College 2010. In case you missed the fun, see clips on YouTube.

Alumni Relations Sponsors Bus Trip, Nursing Reunion

Goodwin College alumni joined employees and students for a bus trip to New York City early this month. And in November, the alumni department teamed up with Nursing faculty to host a nursing reunion marking the first five years of the Nursing Program at Goodwin.

Feast of Many Lands

On December 8, Goodwin College's growing tradition, the Feast of Many Lands, was held for the fifth year. The grassroots international potluck was coordinated by the Student Council and Joy Castello Butler.

‘Tis the Season

Goodwin College students have headed up several successful fundraisers and drives over the past few weeks, including the Thanksgiving Food Drive and Holiday Toy Drive, both coordinated by the Student Council, a fundraiser for the Hospital for Special Care headed by nursing student Lori Tripp (look for an update in the January eNews), and the Early Childhood Education Club book fair, which raised $2,500 for CT Children’s Medical Center and other causes. Thank you to both the coordinators and participants in these efforts — your commitment and generosity make us all proud.

3 Creative Ways to Help Others... ...and Finish Your To-Dos this Season!

It's the holiday season. It’s the end of the year. You want to help others but you have one million things to do. Here are some creative ways to do both!

#3 What to buy for the person who has everything? A seat in the Goodwin College Auditorium! Dedicating a seat supports the Scholarship Fund at the Goodwin College Foundation and makes a meaningful and lasting gift! www.goodwin.edu/takeyourseat.asp

#2 Tax Deductions. We all give altruistically, but tax deductions are a great perk for your generosity! Make your gift by December 31 and it will be eligible for a 2010 deduction.

#1 Shop online and give! www.GoodShop.com is an online shopping mall that donates from 3-30% of each purchase to your favorite cause! Great stores including Amazon, Target, Gap, Best Buy, eBay, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have partnered with GoodShop and every time you place an order, you'll be supporting Goodwin College. (Be sure to enter "Goodwin College" where it asks, "Who do you Goodshop for?")

Thank you for your support and Happy Holidays!
