Goodwin Graduation is Sunday
|
Goodwin College will hold its 11th Commencement Ceremony outdoors at the
River Campus on Sunday at 2 p.m. Two hundred and sixty eight students will
graduate.

Peter Yarrow, of the musical group Peter, Paul and Mary, will receive an honorary
Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the college in recognition of his work in
founding Operation Respect, a nonprofit organization which advocates the teaching
of tolerance and respect in schools. Valedictorian Melissa Romanchuck, of Marlborough,
will also address the graduating class.
A live broadcast of the 2010 Commencement Ceremony will availabe on the Goodwin College website for anyone unable

To all the graduates, your hard work is inspirational, and your contributions in and

Students Receive Barbara Charley Memorial Scholarships
|
Congratulations to Talaunt Proko and Sara-Jayne Nocera, the two recipients of the
Barbara Jean Charley Memorial Scholarships. Sara-Jayne and Talaunt will receive
their scholarships, each valued at over $3,500, at the Graduation Awards Ceremony on
June 11. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Barbara Jean Charley Memorial Scholarship
Fund, especially Barbara's family, for making these scholarship awards possible.

Attention Students: Advising Sessions Next Week
|
Academic Advising is the cornerstone of a successful path to graduation. The Advising
staff has scheduled a series of sessions next week when they will be available to meet
in the student lounge to go over dates and deadlines, answer questions, and review the
advising syllabus.
Monday – Thursday June 14-17
11 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m.
Sessions will take place in the student lounge.

Alumni Trip to Red Sox Game
|
Alumni Relations is coordinating another Fenway Park bus trip on Saturday, July 17
(Red Sox vs. Texas Rangers).
Round trip bus tickets with game ticket are just $59.
First priority goes to Goodwin alumni, but employees and students are also invited to

Congratulations to Tasha Roche for being chosen to be a recipient of the Hartford Town and County Club Scholarship!
David Zoppoli from Career Services, in his role as the treasurer of the Connecticut Cooperative Education
and Internship Association, hosted a professional development workshop for internship and career
services professionals from Connecticut and surrounding New England states April 9.
Teresa Twomey, coordinator of NUR 210, received a 2010 Nightingale Award on May 6.
Congratulations to Bill Mangini for being nominated for the Lifetime Membership Award from
the CT Association of Professional Financial Aid Administrators (CAPFAA).
The award goes to an individual for making "...an outstanding and sustained contribution to CAPFAA
and the financial aid profession."
Bruce Morton was the guest speaker at the Connecticut Environmental Health Association meeting
in May. He spoke about Goodwin College's Environmental Health Technician Certificate Program.
Lori Blake, Kim Mansfield, and Kathy Gavin planned and presented the First Annual Early Childhood
Conference held at Goodwin College on May 4. A nationally known keynote speaker, eight presenters
for breakout sessions, and 130 participants attended this first Early Childhood Conference.
Brian Murphy has been accepted into the Criminal Justice Doctoral Program at the University of New Haven.
