Presentation on the Connecticut River
Historian Kenneth W. Cole will present "Our Connecticut River: From Sea to Source" Thursday, April 8, at 11:45 a.m. in the Auditorium. The presentation will be an informative and engaging look at the illustrious history of the Connecticut River. All are welcome.

Sexual and Domestic Violence Workshop
Rita Ricciardi, Campus Advocate from the Sexual Assault Crisis Services, YWCA of New Britain, will present a training on the prevention and awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence Tuesday, April 13, 2010, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Goodwin College Community Room. Goodwin College Teams with State Colleges in Nursing Agreement
On Monday, March 15, Ann Clark, Provost, and Rosemary Hathaway, Ph.D., R.N., Director of the Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-to-BSN) program, participated in the signing of an articulation agreement between Goodwin College and the Connecticut Community College Nursing Program (CT-CCNP). This partnership clears the way for more registered nurses to continue their education at Goodwin College, which is among the state’s best-known and fastest growing providers of nursing education.

5th Graders Come to College
Goodwin College will welcome 5th grade students from Carmen Arace Intermediate School in Bloomfield on Tuesday, April 6, for a day of educational activities to introduce young students to a college environment and encourage them to pursue a college education.

Goodwin Mourns Loss of Student
Goodwin College lost a valued friend and student with the passing of Robert Suljoti, who was struck by a vehicle on his way to work at Hartford Hospital March 27. Robert worked in our Facilities Department and was taking ESL classes at Goodwin. We send our deepest regrets to his wife Manjola and his sister Eleni Beka who also work at Goodwin College.

Human Services Career Networking Event
Brian Sigman, the Executive Director of the Connecticut Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind, will be the presenter at the Human Services Career Networking event Thursday, April 8, at 5 p.m. in the Community Room. Mr. Sigman will address qualities needed to be successful in the field of Human Services. The presentation is another in a series presented by Career Services and Alumni Relations.

ENV 130 - Explorations in Riverine Ecology

ENV 150 - Introduction to Sustainable Energy
Are we on the brink of a full-fledged energy crisis? Is it possible to meet consumer demand while protecting the environment? Learn about transportation planning, sustainability, and resource conservation as solutions to global challenges.

Early Childhood Education Club Yoga Night
Goodwin College Early Childhood Education Club is proud to celebrate NAEYC's Week of the Young Child on Friday, April 16, with a mind, body, and soul Yoga night! Join them in the Community Room from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for "How to bring yoga to young children" with Melanie Mansfield, certified Itsy Bitsy & Integral Yoga instructor. An adult beginners yoga class will be held 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. with Adriana Hoxie, certified by Yoga Alliance. The price of admission is a children's book and the classes are limited to 25 people each.

National Library Week
National Library Week will be observed April 11-17 with the theme "Communities thrive @ your library." First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries – school, public, academic and special – participate. Watch the Goodwin library page for information about our celebration.

A Message from Alumni Relations
The Office of Alumni Relations is located on the 2nd floor across from the student lounge. Alumni and students are always encouraged to stop in to find out what types of benefits and upcoming events are scheduled for this year. For instance, the alumni/student bus trip to Fenway Park to watch the Boston Red Sox take on the Texas Rangers is scheduled for July 17. Stay tuned for more information!

The 5th annual Goodwin College Foundation Golf Tournament will be held Wednesday, September 22, at Topstone Golf Course in South Windsor. Details to register, sponsor, or donate a raffle item coming soon!
