| National Survey Ranks Goodwin College High in Academic Challenge |
|
Goodwin College students meet the challenge of rigorous coursework by studying several hours outside of class each week, according to the results of the CCSSE survey completed by students last spring.
The study, which was administered in over 600 institutions in the US and Canada, found that the College exceeded average benchmarks for academic challenge by a wide margin. Over three quarters of students reported that their classes focus “quite a bit” or “very much” on critical thinking and analytical skills, with most reporting that their coursework frequently required them to synthesize and organize ideas, information, and experiences in new ways.
Beyond academics, survey data also shed light on students’ views on services and campus life. Student activities, career services, and financial aid were listed among top student priorities.

| Counseling Services |
Goodwin College strives to provide a supportive campus environment. Sometimes, stress and other social or emotional concerns can affect academic performance, so the College encourages students to talk to a trained counselor. Kim Beebe, Tyesha Wood, and David Zoppoli can provide brief confidential counseling sessions to explore issues that may be affecting academic performance and, if appropriate, refer students to community resources that may benefit them.
To learn more or schedule an appointment, please call Tyesha Wood at 860-727-7616.
The College also has resources to help staff and faculty when they believe a student could benefit from counseling or other mental health treatment. See http://www.goodwin.edu/counseling_faulty_staff.asp for more information.
