The Half Moon Returns to Goodwin College

The tall ship Half Moon is voyaging to the River Campus this week with a crew that includes 12 middle school students from area schools. The ship is a replica of the vessel used by explorer Henry Hudson in 1609.

While aboard, the students learn to operate the ship and conduct scientific tests in Long Island Sound and the Connecticut River. To read about their experiences, click here.

The Half Moon will be open to the public for tours this Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, visit www.goodwin.edu/ship.

Other events surrounding the ship's visit include a student and employee picnic 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, July 13, and a reception Tuesday, July 14. For information about these events, please contact Karen Gilbert at 860-291-9934.

The Office of Alumni Relations is also hosting an Alumni Day picnic Sunday, July 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. RSVP by tomorrow, July 10, to Guy LaBella at glabella@goodwin.edu or 860-727-6948.
