Hundreds Wish Goodwin Well at Dedication
Goodwin College's exuberant May 1 dedication featured the blessings of religious leaders and the well wishes of distinguished dignitaries. The event also honored the contributions of alumni, students, faculty, staff, the construction team, and supporters in the community for making the River Campus a reality. Goodwin's 12th nursing pinning ceremony marked the transition into nursing careers of 49 graduates April 23. Congratulations to all the graduates!

Goodwin to Host BioBlitz Activities
Each year, BioBlitz brings scientists and families together in a race to capture and identify as many species as possible in a 24-hour period. This year's blitz will begin at Hartford's Keney Park on Friday, June 12, and events and festivities will be held at Goodwin's River Campus on Saturday, June 13. The schedule of events will be included in an upcoming e-newsletter.
Graduation to be Held at River Campus June 11

Career Questions? Networking Receptions Give Tips
Alumni Relations and Career Services held the first in a series of career / networking receptions for students and alumni May 7. Life after Goodwin: Exploring Opportunities for Today's Nurses featured a presentation by Maria Tackett, the Nursing Director for the Neurotrauma ICU and Neurotrauma and Orthopedic Units at Hartford Hospital. Save the Date: Golf Tournament 2009
The 4th Annual Goodwin College Foundation Golf Tournament is scheduled for September 23 at Topstone Golf Course in South Windsor. Funds raised support student scholarships. Sponsorship opportunities and other information are available here.
New Bookstore Hours
Beginning with class start on May 11 (today) the bookstore hours will be the following:
Mon-Thurs: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Fri: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sat: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A team of students participated in Walk Against Hunger to raise money for Foodshare. Thank you to all, and to Joy Castello Butler for helping to coordinate the activity.
Several Goodwin College employees and students spent Saturday, April 25, participating in Rebuilding Together, an annual day of volunteering. This year, the volunteers painted the home of a Manchester senior. Special thanks to Sandy Pearce for leading Goodwin's team of volunteers once again.
Henriette Pranger is hosting a regional meeting of college administrators responsible for Portfolio Assessment Programs later this month. Pranger leads assessment initiatives at Goodwin College.
Thanks to David Zoppoli and Joe Cary for helping plan the May 7 Career Day for East Hartford Middle School students.

Are we feeling good about Goodwin? Yes we are! You'll be proud to know that the Foundation has almost hit its goal for the Feeling Good About Goodwin Society. So far, 63% of full-time employees have contributed to student scholarships. Together, you've helped raise nearly $25,000 - that's 83% of the employee fundraising goal. If you haven't signed up yet, Institutional Advancement will be in the lobby this week on Wednesday daytime and Thursday evening with treats. Stop by and become our newest member! Alumni: Alumni and students are in the process of making phone calls to ask for alumni support. The first gifts are just starting to roll in - thank you, alumni, for helping current and future Goodwin students! Corporators and Friends: Corporators are also going strong against their fundraising goal at 72%. Corporators serve the College by acting on advisory boards and other initiatives. Thank you for your support, Corporators, and friends! Businesses and vendors: East Hartford businesses and Goodwin's vendors are signing up for commencement program advertisements and banners at the Half Moon visit this summer. Golf sponsorships are also now available online and the slots are already filling up.
