Goodwin College started 2009 on a high note with its move to the academic center at the River Campus, a facility that boasts over three times the instructional space previously available.

The $30 million facility comes equipped with computer labs, a 6,000 square foot library, bookstore, student and faculty lounges, and an 800 seat auditorium. Three of the building's six floors are currently open and the remaining three will be finished in the next several weeks.

The facility is getting great reviews from students and visitors, as well as the press.

"Goodwin's success is a winner for the state," The Hartford Courant wrote in a January 8 editorial. "Goodwin begins classes in its dramatic riverfront setting this month." Other stories in local and state publications are posted on the college's newsblog.

Classes are set to begin at the campus on Monday, January 12, and students, as well as employees, should expect to receive some important announcements regarding the new campus in the next few days.

2008: A Year of Milestones

Even as 2009 is shaping up to be a momentous year at Goodwin College, it's worth looking back at some remarkable milestones reached in 2008. There were too many memorable and important events to list, but here are a few highlights:
