College to Offer BS in Child Study, More Bachelor's Degrees to be Added Soon

Goodwin College officially became a "four-year" college November 19 when the Board of Governors for Higher Education granted approval for the school's Bachelor of Science degree program in Child Study.

The program, which is designed to meet a growing demand for highly qualified early childhood educators, is slated to be the first of several bachelor's degrees offered by the college.

The degree is structured as a "2+2" program, wherein students earn an associate degree on their way to completion of their bachelor's degree, increasing their qualifications and earning potential as they progress.

Next up, the college will seek approval for a Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing Completion Program and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science degree.

For more information on the Bachelor of Science in Child Study, please call 860-528-4111.

U.S. Representatives (and sisters) Linda and Loretta Sanchez (D-CA) addressed a standing-room only audience of Goodwin College students, staff, and faculty Nov. 17, offering an uplifting message about the power of goals, hard work, and persistence.

The two made history as the first sisters to serve together in Congress, and their compelling personal story is the subject of a joint memoir, Dream in Color.

In a lengthy and candid discussion, the congresswomen described their own path to success and urged others to dream big.

"It was said that anyone's son can be president of the United States. Now anyone's daughter can, too," Loretta Sanchez said.
