September 2008
Welcome to New Students from a Goodwin College Alumna

Dear Student,

Fall is a season of transformation, which makes it the perfect time to take the first steps on your journey toward your goals for the future.  Goodwin College is a place where dreams become more tangible with each goal accomplished, one paper, one test, one class at a time. What is unique is how everyone, students, teachers, and staff, help each other, and individual success becomes not only a personal accomplishment but cause for group celebration and pride.  You will make friends in study groups and school activities that will color your life with joy.  Enjoy this season of splendor.  Always believe in yourself.  I can tell you how much it is true, that your thoughts, dreams, and sacrifice will help you to fulfill your brightest dreams.

Sincerely,
Joanne Field, RN

Goodwin College to Use Submarine for L.I. Sound Research

Marian S201, a lithium-ion powered submarine, will launch this month to conduct a three-week research expedition in Long Island Sound.  Goodwin College will utilize a water quality sonde, an instrument donated by Yellow Springs Instruments, that will collect and record water quality data to assess the impact of pollution entering the Sound from Connecticut freshwater rivers. The research is being led by Bruce Morton, the coordinator of environmental science courses at Goodwin College.

The Marian S201 submarine can accommodate a crew of two and remain submerged for up to 48 hours.
Nurses Receive Pins at Ceremony

Forty-three Goodwin College nursing graduates received their pins at the tenth Nursing Pinning Ceremony on  August 21.

With over 375 students graduating from Goodwin College's Nursing Program since it began in 2003, this ceremony has come to symbolize the commitment of so many students not only to a profession dedicated to caring for human life but also to their families who have supported them during this journey.

Congratulations to the graduates from the entire Goodwin College community!
