Community Investment Notes
Volunteer Subcommittees have visited all Partner Agencies, reviewed budgets and are preparing to make their recommendations. Below are important dates to remember as we wrap up the process.
May 20 & 21 - Exit Conferences where subcommittee co-chairs present recommendations.
June 17 - United Way Board Meeting. Members will vote on volunteer committee's recomendations.
June 19 - Award letters will be mailed. |
Are You Ready to Set the Pace?
The Pacesetter campaign is just around the bend. United Way is recruiting agencies to set the  pace for the 2009 Fall campaign.
Pacesetters run their United Way campaign between June and August to help kick off the general campaign with momentum. Last year, 96 Pacesetters raised more than $6 million.
We invite your organization to join the Pacesetter tour! We'll begin June 10 with the Pacesetter Luncheon. This first stop will offer participants the chance to collect campaign souvenirs helping them prepare for their campaigns.
Other features on the tour are the popular Pacesetter Games and the exciting Pacesetter Awards Reception.

Within My Reach
Instructor Training - June 17-19
Within My Reach is a relationship skills and decision-making program for helping singles, particularly parenting singles, reach their goals in relationships. This program is designed to improve the odds for success for participants and their children by: - Helping those currently in relationships with potential to grow and strengthen their relationship, and to marry if desired
- Helping those in harmful, negative relationships to leave safely
- Helping those wanting a romantic relationship to choose future partners wisely.

Tapping Boomer Talent
$2,500 Award Available
Is your organization tapping the talent of adults over 50 to drive your mission?
The 2009 MetLife Foundation/Civic Ventures Encore Opportunity Awards will recognize employers and pathway programs effectively tapping the passion and experience of boomers in encore careers that combine continued income, personal meaning, and social impact.
Winners will receive $2,500 and be showcased for engaging people over 50 to meet society's biggest problems.

Why: Participants in this workshop will learn to conduct a Behavioral Language
Assessment; to select the most appropriate
form of communication for a child or adult
(vocal, signing, pointing to or exchanging
pictures, or activating an augmentative
device); and to select the communication
responses and supporting skills that should be
taught first.
