Where Do You Fit On Your Priority List?
We are so busy making sure that everyone around us is being taken care of ... especially during the holiday season. You can't always control the circumstances that life brings your way, but you can control how you respond to it.
Why do you not take the time for your own self-care? Do you feel undeserving or simply no time left at the end of the day?
Dr Kristin Neff, a pioneer in the field on self-compassion has found that the biggest reason people are not more self-compassionate is that they are afraid they will become self-indulgent. Thinking that "self-criticism is what keeps them in line. Most people have gotten it wrong because our culture says being hard on yourself is the way to be.
Go Easy On Yourself
Research has shown that persons with high levels of self-compassion have less depression and anxiety and tend to be happier and more optimistic.
- Journal to elicit awareness
- Practice self-supportive thoughts
- Acknowledge the truth of how things really are
- Validate your thoughts, feelings, and emotions

- Expect more out of yourself
Live each day the best you can ... Wake up with excitement and anticipation ~ for what the day will bring. Retire at the days end with serenity and calm ~ thankful for what came your way. |
