Depression may be described as feeling sad, blue, unhappy, miserable, or down in the dumps. Most of us feel this way at one time or another for short periods. Read more ...

Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress. It helps one deal with a tense situation in the office, study harder for an exam, keep focused on an important speech. In general, it helps one cope.  Read more ...

Addiction is one of the toughest problems facing our culture today. The growing problems within the family, as well as many other cultural stressors, make addiction a national and international problem that has grown by leaps and bounds. In the U.S. we have promoted a "feel good right now" mentality that tends to feed the addictive process.

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold.
But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that
your most important decision in the day simply consists of
choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow.

~ Douglas Pagels ... These Are the Gifts I'd Like to Give to You
Mindfulness: Life Awareness
reflection
In our society we have put an emphasis on work. If you have a job, you can earn money. If you can earn money, you can buy things you need, pay your bills, have a place to live, and basically do things you want to do. Without money, you can't do much.

Work gives us that "feel-good" attitude, sense of contributing to the community becoming a "productive" member of society. But what if you can't work, due to no jobs available, illness, disability, or age? Do you become lost ... do you began to stumble along your journey ...

By working, you can develop new skills, learn new things, and create a record of employment, which looks good on your resume for advancing your career or returning to school. You have self-respect, dignity, and self-worth. You are being responsible and making sure that you can take care of yourself ... you are creating a foundation from which you can build on to have a successful future.

But what if you can't work, due to no jobs available, illness, disability, or age? Are you thrown off to the side ... what are you telling yourself? Do you find the negativity creeping in and you begin to wonder, what is the use?

Ideally, yes it would be nice if we could all have a job, making money, to feel good, self-respect, dignity, and self-worth. But, this is not reality. For what ever reason, there are many people unable to work. Be creative ... fill your time with activities that make you feel good and light your spirit. Volunteer, lend a helping hand to a family member/friend, mentor a young person, go back to school/take some classes that interest you ...

YOU ARE NEEDED ... YOU ARE VALUED!

Write a few sentences describing "what I have learned" ... how your values translate into your ideal job. Confucious said, "Find a job you enjoy, and you'll never work a day in your life."

Moving Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Action Occurs in the Present

Acknowledge a need that has gone unmet.
Why is this important to you?

Who are you when this need is met?
What is one thing you can do to work
towards this unmet need?

Opening yourself to change is a risk.
Our actions occur when we can clearly
visualize our success ... think about it :))

Be brave ... this is a substantial change!

In order to grow ... we need to move out of
our comfort zone and take a risk.

Close your eyes and you will see

... Anything is possible ...
To Move Forward ...

September 5th ~ Labor Day

The first Labor Day in the United States was observed on September 5, 1882: a street parade to exhibit to the public "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations," followed by a festival for the workers and their families.

One-hundred and twenty-nine years later ...

Each year Americans celebrate Labor Day as a national holiday to honor working people. This year, however, is less a time for celebration and more a time for reflection and action on current economic turmoil and hardships experienced by workers and their families ... read more

Enjoy your journey and remember to stop along the way to embrace the day's gifts
of love, happiness, harmony, surprise, laughter, energy, strength, and peace.
