June/2012
Greetings!

Texas Baptist Super Summer is a leadership training experience for Christian young people with leadership qualities.  We ask churches, "Send your best young leaders and we'll send them back better." Fifty churches were "first-time" registrants this year. Only two sessions remain, one at Howard Payne University and again another at Hardin Simmons.  Space is still available to sign up your young leaders.  Go to http://youth.texasbaptists.org/super-summer/ for more information.  Read about some of the reports from Super Summer below.

Youth Evangelism Conference is this weekend in Arlington. David Crowder, Clayton King, Shane & Shane, Far From Ordinary, Jason Castro, Tedashii, and Alex Harris are headlining this year's YEC.  Registration is up from last year. I hope your church can join the excitement as we "GLORIFY" on the UTA campus this Friday and Saturday. Learn more at  http://youth.texasbaptists.org/yec/.

Pray for your Youth Evangelism Staff as they continue to work at offering quality experiences for youth and youth leaders. Thank you Leighton Flowers for your direction to this team.

Continue also to pray for Scott Willingham as he progresses from procedures at Baylor Hospital earlier this week.

You can read about these and other upcoming summer events below.

Thank you for partnering with Texas Baptists to reach Texas and beyond for Christ.

-Wayne Shuffield
Super Summer

The fourth of six Super Summer sessions will wrap up this week. Enrollment continues to grow. Sessions 1 & 3, Dallas Baptist University and East Texas Baptist University, filled to capacity while Sessions 2 & 4, Hardin Simmons University and University of Mary Hardin Baylor, reached 90-95% capacity.  Session 1 at Dallas Baptist kicked off Super Summer earlier this month. Michael Bleecker led the students in worship, Mike Satterfield brought them the Word, and Drew Worsham, an illusionist, entertained with the incredible talent God has provided him. The theme this year is "To Him Be Glory;"which many students had emblazoned across their t-shirt as a testament to their enthusiasm for Christ.

The Hispanic Baptist Convention of Texas is seeking to go "adelante" - forward, impacting communities across the state with the gospel. Throughout the annual gathering of Hispanic Baptists from across Texas, speakers implored believers to be people of action who are known for sharing the gospel, caring for people and participating in mission work. Read more from last year's convention.
