KWG Meeting This Thursday!
Join us for the next KWG meeting on Thursday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at the Laurel Theater. Tennessee poets Linda Parsons Marion, Edward Francisco and Blas Falconer will be the featured speakers.
Come early and enjoy coffee and snacks. Don't forget to bring a favorite finger food to add to the treat table!
The event, which will be open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Laurel Theater, at the corner of Laurel Avenue and 16th Street in Fort Sanders. A $2 donation is requested at the door. The building is handicapped accessible. Additional parking is available at Redeemer Church of Knoxville, 1642 Highland Ave. Each poet will read from his or her work. Click here for more information.

There are six submission categories, and you may enter as many as you like. Workshops
Marilyn Kallet Leads Event
Marilyn Kallet, director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Tennessee, will lead a poetry writing workshop April 14 in which participants explore language to express joy derived from the senses. The Knoxville Writers' Guild is workshop sponsor.
"O Taste and See in East Tennessee!" will consist of hands-on writing, prompts and publication advice. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 14, at Church of the Savior, 934 N. Weisgarber Rd. Cost is $25 for KWG members and $30 for nonmembers. Writers and Speakers
Playwrights on the Move
KWG Screenwriting and Playwriting Groups, in conjunction with the Tennessee Stage Company, New Play Festival, hosted a table reading on Saturday, March 24, from 2 to 3 PM at Theatre Knoxville, 319 N. Gay Street. Local actors read three short plays focusing on the theme "The Wrong Number" by playwrights Judy DiGregorio, Joyce Leo, and Margy Ragsdale. The reading was followed by comments and audience feedback facilitated by Tom Parkhill, Director or Tennessee Stage Company. The event was so well received that plans are under discussion to present another reading in the near future.
Writing Groups Expanding
Judy DiGregorio Speaks to Groups Humorist Judy DiGregorio will speak at an Oak Ridge National Laboratory Brown Bag Seminar on April 12, for the UT Torch Club at the Orangery, Knoxville, on April 19, and for the Episcopal Church Women Tea at St. James Episcopal Church, Knoxville, April 21. She will also introduce Bill Landry for "An Evening with Bill Landry" at St Stephen's Episcopal Church, Oak Ridge, April 28.

Chesapeake Writers
KWG has received notice of the Chesapeake Writers' Conference at St. Mary's College of Maryland July 11-15, 2012. Submission deadline is May 15, 2012. Website: www.smcm.edu/summer/writing for more information. Six genres will be covered: fiction, creative non-fiction, writing for children, poetry, writing about place and food writing.
