The Guild's website is changing hands. As of May 1, Kelly Norrell will be the Guild's new webmaster and listserv manager!

Kelly NorrellLong time Guild member Kelly Dowe Norrell is a freelance writer, editor, public relations specialist and photographer in Knoxville, TN. She is communications director for The Episcopal School of Knoxville.  Norrell earned a bachelor's degree in American Studies from the University of Alabama. As winner of one of the first Rotary International Study Awards for Journalists, she also studied economics and politics of the Middle East at Durham University in the U.K. for one year. As a newspaper reporter, she won AP awards for feature writing and women's page reporting. She has studied graphic and web design in the Communications Graphics Technology program at Pellissippi State Technical Community College.

Jo Ann Pantanizopoulos Jo Ann Pantanizopoulos retires her position she's held for 13 years when the Guild's first website was hosted at KORRNETin 1998 back when the "world wide web" was brand new.  After successfully  creating a website for the Division St. campus of Pellissippi State, she asked then-president Fred Brown if she could create one for the Guild.  After thirteen years and promoting six anthologies and many contests later, "I thank the Guild for its patience and support while I was having so much fun playing all these years," she says.  As she retires from Pellissippi State where she worked since 1990 as a writing instructor and Educational Resources Center coordinator, Jo Ann is planning to spend more time with her family and more time in Greece.


 

The clock is ticking! April 30 is the deadline for 2011 Guild Contest.... New Genres: Novel Excerpts, Flash Fiction and Blog Writing!

  

The Knoxville Writers' Guild sponsors the following annual literary contests with more than $1,200 in prizes for poetry, fiction, and essays.   Enter as many of these contests as you like: The newly extended deadline is midnight April 30 for these writing contests from the Knoxville Writers' Guild. Previous contest winners can be viewed on the Contest Guidelines page.

May 14: Humorist Judy DiGregorio will teach the workshop "From Pen to Publication: How Do You Start?" from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 at the Redeemer Church of Knoxville, 1642 Highland Ave. The event is sponsored by the Knoxville Writers' Guild. June 4: You've Written a Novel, Now What? with Chris Hebert, a freelance editor and editor for fiction and popular music at the University of Michigan Press. His novel, The Boiling Season, is forthcoming from HarperCollins in 2012.
