Book Fair & Holiday Potluck at Dec. 2 Guild Meeting: Bring a dish and join us!

With the spirit of the holidays prevailing, the Knoxville Writers' Guild will be whipping up a most sociable mix of literature and cookery at its Thursday, December 2nd meeting. The gathering will find the Guild staging a book fair while hosting its Annual Holiday Potluck. Fine food and great reading matter will combine with lively conversation, at what promises to be a most festive occasion.

The meeting, which will be open to the public, will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Laurel Theater , at the corner of Laurel Avenue and 16th Street (in Fort Sanders ). Admission is free, but a $1 donation (at the door) would be gratefully accepted. The building is handicapped accessible. If possible, please bring a holiday dish to share.

This year-end event will provide a wonderful opportunity for Writers' Guild members to get to know one another. It will be similarly beneficial to those not belonging to the Guild, affording them the chance to become happily acquainted with the association and its membership. For everyone, the meeting will be a marvelous occasion to peruse the published works of local writers and to chat with the authors themselves.

Those participating as sellers at the book fair must be Writers' Guild members. If not already a member, a prospective seller can join the KWG just before the December meeting begins. Writers who will be marketing their books should arrive at the Laurel Theater at 6:30 p.m. to set up.

Books spotlighted at the fair will reflect the diverse creative talent of the Guild membership. As those who've attended KWG meetings and workshops know well, the Guild addresses all manner of writing. The past year has seen an extremely broad range of writing topics covered. Among them: poetry, playwriting, spiritual literature, historical nonfiction, children's books, illustration, screenwriting, biography, fiction, humor, erotica and the memoir genre.

The Knoxville Writers' Guild provides a supportive, creatively inspiring environment for professional and avocational writers, aspiring wordsmiths and those who just like to read. It is with eager anticipation that the Guild looks forward to bringing everyone together in a thoroughly convivial way, when a mixer of the book-fair variety will take place against a backdrop of delicious holiday fare. So, bring a dish and please come by the Laurel Theater on December 2 and enjoy!
