Greetings from Robert Summers, Chair
I'm delighted to report to our membership that our 6th annual symposium
was a great success. Not only did we surpass our fundraising goal
through generous member donations and sponsorships, but our members
survey results gave high marks for our program. We're already planning
our 7th edition to be held on May 1-3, 2009 at the brand-new AT&T
conference center on the campus of the University of Texas. As I
mentioned in my closing comments in Fort Worth, we are excited about
the Austin symposium for many reasons. This location will allow us to
hold the symposium in a full-service hotel with first-rate audiovisual
and conference facilities. The room rates are also very affordable.
Also, the conference center is located very near the the Blanton Museum
of Art, the Harry Ransom Center and the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, which will all be participating in our
programming. Our new and improved "Texas Art Fair" will include more
dealers, and will for the first time receive local, statewide and
national advertising. Our members will have an exclusive opportunity
on Friday night to preview the Fair before the general public is invited
on Saturday and Sunday. Please mark your calendars and make plans to
attend. Further announcements will follow. We're also excited about
our new website and the members-only area, including the message board,
where members can ask questions and share thoughts on Early Texas Art.
We will continue to add content and functions to the website. Finally,
I'd like to personally thank our members for their continued support of
CASETA and our mission. Please feel free to contact me or Courtney at
the CASETA office with any comments or ideas on how we can better serve
our members and our mission.
Sincerely,
Robert Summers Chair, CASETA Board of Directors
