-¼ cup white sugar
-8 slices of Wheat Bread (or subst. with Cinnamon Raisin)
-½ package of cream cheese
-4 eggs
-1 cup milk
-½ cup light whipping cream
-¼ cup Strawberry Preserves or Jam
-1 tsp vanilla extract
Grease a 12x8 baking dish with Non-stick Spray or melted butter
-Slice fresh strawberries and coat with ¼ cup sugar, let sit.
*If subst dried fruit, don't coat, instead add 3 TBSP sugar to egg mixture.
-Cut bread into cubes and place layer on bottom of dish.
-Place small pieces of cream cheese across top.
-Place sliced strawberries across bread cubes, saving some for top.
-Place another layer of bread cubes on top.
-Place more cream cheese and remaining strawberries across top.
-Beat eggs and add milk, cream, preserves, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly and pour egg mixture evenly over bread cubes.
-Cover dish with aluminum foil, press down evenly to soak bread, and refrigerate overnight.
-Place uncovered in cool oven set to 350 degrees and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown around edges. Cover with foil for another 5-10 minutes.
Cut and place on plates, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream and pure maple syrup!
