MUSINGS FROM MIKKI
Happy March and Happy St. Patrick's Day! Now what gives me the right to say that? Well, I drank a Guinness in Ireland once...just once! I choreographed Finian's Rainbow AND... I own a very large ostentatious GREEN serpent pin, see below, I know, I know, hard to believe:-) One of my dear Irish friends knowing that I'm a glass 1/2 full kinda gal, toasted me last Paddy's day with this, "Some say the glass is 1/2 empty, some say the glass is 1/2 full, the Irish say, "are you gonna drink that?"

I LOVE THIS BOOK! |
Live a thousand years? How is this possible? This captivating story teaches you how to live twelve times the life experience of the average person. Most of us measure our time by clocks and calendars. Live a Thousand Years reveals the power of measuring your time and your success by moments and experiences. Thank you, Jansen Chasenof, Vistage Chair in Atlanta for the gift of this book and your friendship. I LOVE THIS BOOK because it introduces you to the twelve essential elements that will guide you in living a grander life experience. If you've heard me speak on The Whole Life Trilogy then you know I'm an avid believer in not just travel but in experiences. I've always had an "experience list." A few (of many) I've achieved are: a safari in Africa, lunch in the Israeli desert, speaking at The White House and speaking at President Mandela's home. Still on the list: sipping a Mint Julep at the Kentucky Derby, riding the Orient Express, waltzing in Vienna, tango in Argentina and my soon-to-be-realized dream of driving this year's pace car at the Indy 500. Stay tuned!
What's on your experience list? |

CREATIVE CAPTIONS |
I love creativity and as a wordsmith I love douple entendres, alliteration, onomato... whatever the heck that one was. One of my quirky habits is collecting names of businesses that display any of the above. Here are two of my favorites:
We Give a Shift (an auto transmission shop)
and
Two Guys With Their Minds in the Gutters (yes, gutter cleaning)
*********************************************************** I hope you'll send me ones that you know of or see from now on. Please send to mikki@mikkiwilliams.com

SHOE-BE-DOO STORIES |
Yes, I own about a billion pairs of shoes. And each pair has a story to inspire, a lesson to be learned, a laugh or an "aha!" This month's shoes were worn on
February 20, 2008 at opening night of my "shero," my soul twin, the one
I remind you all of, The Divine Miss M the incomparable Bette Midler at
Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. An evening of glitz and glamour shared
with Elton, Cher, Barry Manilow and all the other crazy fans like
myself. It was simply DIVINE. |
MIKKI MOUTH: QUOTATIONS I WISH I'D SAID AND SOME I DID SAY! |
Enjoy a quote each month from my new book - some funny, some poignant, some professional, some just darn cute!
QUOTE OF THE MONTH:
We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings on a human journey.

HE WHO LAUGHS, LASTS!
|
This month's laugh was submitted by Mike Garcia who heard me speak at the California Landscape Contractors Association last Fall in Nashville (happy to say I've been invited to speak to them in Kona, Hawaii this year!). Mike wrote, "I am a big manly man contractor and I loved your pink newsletter," and thought I'd enjoy this story. He was right!
Dave was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the family business. When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed a wife with whom to share his fortune.
One evening at an investment meeting he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away. "I may look like just an ordinary man," he said to her, "but in just a few years, my father will die, and I'll inherit 20 million dollars."
Impressed, the woman obtained his business card. Three days later she became his stepmother.
Women are so much better at estate planning than men!

MIKKI AND FRIENDS
|
If any of you remember the movie or Broadway show "Auntie Mame" or if you're old enough to admit you remember it, then you might recall that Mame was famous for her eclectic circle of friends. I pride myself on that same principle of knowing so many diverse people and calling many of them my friends. I would like to profile them and their expertise by offering this monthly addition of tips, tactics and techniques shared by experts in their field. Although someone once told me not to refer to myself as an expert as an ex is a has been and a spurt is little more than a drip.
So here is a legal tip and an entertaining tip with a little help from my friends...
LEGAL TIP from Mark Partridge, Intellectual Property Attorney/Professional Speaker - www.GuidingRights.com When it comes to protecting your intellectual property rights, small things matter: increase your level of protection at no cost by using a copyright notice on content, and trademark notice on brands and slogans, and a designation of confidentiality on proprietary customer lists.
POWER ENTERTAINING TIP from Eddie Osterland, America's 1st Master Sommelier/Professional Speaker - www.eddieosterland.com Food tastes better when you're hungry. Duh... So the next time you entertain keep them hungry! Don't give them too many appetizers or too many cocktails. Serve them the tastiest thing you can create within the first 20 minutes and they will think you are a professional chef. Remember, serve the best first!
