Our architect has begun to detail the items in need of immediate repair for the recertification of the building. Concurrently, we will review the usage concepts to determine our next steps. Some necessary repairs have already been made to the facility and we are expecting to have our new sound system for our April 8th luncheon.
Recently the Club has been reaching out to various non-profit organizations to partner with on various projects: Arts at St. John's for the "Women and War" exhibit and panel discussion; the Women's Fund and the Village on anti violence initiatives and workshops; Camillus House on providing necessary supplies for their clients; and Educate Tomorrow on training and support for children transitioning out of foster care. In May MWC is co-hosting a Red Cross exhibit, which represents a renewal of one of the Club's early partnerships.
Friday, March 14th saw the garden courtyard transformed into a twilight enclave as we celebrated our CRA grant award with the Fundraiser Kickoff Cocktail Party. Thank you to the event committee of Claire Tomlin, Kathryn Kassner, Sallie Bird, Carol Hoffman, Adele Neuman and Kathleen Murphy for a wonderful evening.
Our communications committee has taken us into the 21st century in terms of technology. Tricia Sandler and Shannon Wall have been working to insure secure and user friendly web messages and e-mails.
The Economic Roundtable Forum Committee has begun planning an ongoing series which will spotlight issues affecting our community. The first Forum event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24th to address political issues. Representatives of the different parties will be invited to participate to discuss their approaches to political concerns affecting our community and our future.
We are transforming many of our operational procedures to coincide with the schedules and interests of our members and the community at large. Many of our committees are launching new projects while continuing to support existing popular activities. Check the MWC web site for additional information. If you have questions, ideas or want to become more actively involved, please contact me at president@miamiwomansclub.org.
