Life in the
Slow Lane

No. 20

...Dear friends

I have been meditating on the Intimate Formless One, sitting with my face to the morning sunlight.  We are told by many spiritual traditions that the Presence that we seek is as close as our breath and resides in our own hearts.  Christ called God 'Abba,' which is like our "Papa" or "Daddy." When our minds stop racing, this is the Presence that is still and quiet, gentle as spring sunlight on the face. There is no where to go, nothing to achieve, no one "out there" to search for.  There is only drinking in the already-there Presence within.

This morning, these words came in a meditation:

Each seeker finds the right path;
Each path leading back to the beginning;
Each birth leading to rebirth;
The one who fights finds the way
In moments of surrender. The one who says there
Is no path will find the path regardless.

Each path is a circle; all paths lead to that which we seek.
But the one who stays still will unfold like a flower,
petal by petal, under the noon sun, until all the
layers are gone, and there is only translucent light.

...
Sunlight meditation:  Spend some time sitting with your face basking in sunlight.  Drink in the warmth -- and the soothing vitamin D.  The Christian "Amen" was adopted from early worship of the Sun God, Ra.  When your mind begins to want to take over, allow yourself to repeat, "Amen," knowing that there is no where to go or nothing to do at the moment but bask in this warm presence, one of the delightful gifts of our unnameable yet close-as-our-breath Creator.

With love & blessings,

And you will become translucent as light, without form, but with presence, just as the rays of the sun are felt but not seen...
