Dear friends
I am starting to believe that the best gift that anyone can offer another person or themselves is the gift of tactile love. Love that is a hug, or a shoulder massage or a beautiful scarf. Love that is a foot soak or a warm meal or a song. How do we know that we are loved here? It is only through our senses that we know and experience anything.
We often think of love as something we need to "get" when in reality, love is simply something that is experienced through interaction, no matter whether you are on the giving or receiving end.
Sending virtual hugs via this polar bear your way!

Give Someone a Hug Today
Or, if there is no one to hug, then open an orange and breathe it in for a while. Thank the orange for its essence and gift of nourishment.
When you do these things, observe the impact on your energy. Where is the spark residing that we call the spark of life? What is this thing we call "love"? Is it outside of yourself, and you are only consuming it? Is it within yourself, and you are uncovering it? Or is it in the interaction?
Interact with your world, expecting to find this spark, and you will begin to uncover some unexpected gifts!

The Sparkle in the Snow vs. the Sparkle in the Heart
The snow comes, and the world looks bright again. It is a mazing how the elements can affect a mood. We think we are insulated human beings, having our own personal experience, but just the simple effect that the weather can have on mood suggests the inter-relatedness of our energy body and our world's.
Over the last few days, I have been considering a koan that my mentor, David La Chapelle, gave me to consider. The koan is "Who is healing?"
This poem came as a response, with this knowledge that the sparkle in our hearts is the same as the sparkle in the snow.
We believe in magic; we have seen how this world
Is not what we think it is; how forces beyond what
We see are continuously at work. We know that
Love is the foundation of all existence, but that there
Is a shadow, one we cannot locate so easily, cannot
Blink away with our will or even our intent.
There is no forcing magic.
There is no pleading magic
Into being. Magic
comes on its own accord, like
A snow when you were expecting rain, or a visit from
A stranger who becomes your closest friend.
I have seen many things, and I believe that what we
Do here matters. I
believe that each moment we
Are given the gift of breath is our opport unity to
Bow with deep reverence for the mysterious workings
Of our world. It is
not an easy life we lead. But
When the snow melts into a mountain stream, when
The cardinal lands in the tree outside the window,
When there are people in your life who you hold
Close and dear, it can be a precious life.
No matter
How long or short the lifetime, I believe each has The capability to find the spark inside the moment, the
Very same spark from the beginning of the world,
Existing in each cell, existing in each moment--the spark
That when seen in a way that is new, we call magic.
Nothing is fixed here; it is all changeable as the
weather.

A human being is a part
of the whole, called by us, "Universe," a part limited in time and space. He experiences
himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest -- a kind
of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for
us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons
nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening
our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature
in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for
such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner
security -- Albert
Einstein
