Dear friends,

Here is a story to honor Thanksgiving:

The Troll in the Bell Tower.
yotophotoThere once was a troll who lived in a bell tower.  Every time he heard someone complain in the square below, he would ring the bell.  And because he had extra large ears, our dear troll clanged the bell all day long.

One day, a little girl climbed the tower and asked if she could have a chance to ring the bell. He said, "Okay, but only ring it when you hear a complaint."

The little girl sat and sat and sat.  At the same time, the little troll heard many complaints.  He said to the little girl, "Why don't you ring the bell? My ears hurt!"

The little girl said to the troll, "I hear people asking for someone to love them and pay attention to them.  But they don't know how to ask for this very well. They say a lot of other things instead."

The troll giggled, knowing this was true.

The girl took the rope in her hands, and with her boundless love for her people, she rang the bell.  The sound reverberated throughout the entire land.  The people of the town stopped what they were doing and looked up, reminded of something deep within themselves that they had forgotten.  For a moment, they were wordless.

The troll, in that moment, transformed into fairy dust and blew through the wind, microscopic particles of this dust landing on the lips of each and every person.

On that day, no one uttered a word of complaint but simply bowed in gratitude for What Was and Is and Is to Come.  It was the world's very first Thanksgiving.

Music For Meditation, Thurs. Nov. 8, 7:30 - 9 pm
From Yotophoto.com; reminded me of a dear old friend, George MillerSing, Dance and Be Merry, for Tomorrow We Eat Pie!!!
Let's face it. Life is not a cake walk.  But when you take time to just BE, and not DO, you deepen your awareness of the Divine essence within you.  You begin to see connections that were hidden from your view.  You begin to relax and see the simple beauty of What Is.

These evenings (every 2nd Thursday) provide a time to sing sacred chants, meditate, and ... hey, you may even want to get up and dance!

Remember to linger afterward so that you can EAT PIE and hang out with us in Ed's kitchen!

Location:  the home office of Dr. Edward Feldman; 4418 Route 27, Kingston, NJ.  Please RSVP if possible to edward.feldman8@verizon.net.  This is a FREE event.

Photo credit:  Yotophoto.com; it reminds me of a dear old friend in our NYC days.  George's life was an expression of "sing, dance and be merry."  He is now gone in body, but he dances on in my heart.
Ceremonial Giving of Thanks, Sat. Nov. 24,
10 am - Noon, followed by refreshments
yotophotoNurture a Grateful Heart & Kiss Your Worries Good-bye!
Come, stitch your worries to the Great Scarecrow in the Sky and discover the eternal beauty that always lies beneath our circumstances.

We will spend time identifying and nurturing our connection to who & what is most important and dear to us.  We'll acknowledge the role of the Divine trickster in our lives.  We will drum, we will sing songs of gratitude; we will have a ceremonial offering of thanks around an outdoor fire (or a set of candles, if it rains ;). We conclude around noon with a time for homemade pie, tea, and yammering in Ed's kitchen. You are welcome to bring your own drum, and be sure to dress warmly for the outdoor part.

Jonathan Shenk, my hubbie, will lead our drumming and accompany our songs/chants on African djembe.  Jonathan's rhythms are informed by the music of his missionary childhood in Kenya and Somalia.

I will accompany the songs on guitar and / or Tibetan singing bowl.
