TO-DOS!
August 21, 2008
Here We Go - Makin' It Easy for You To-Do It!
Greetings, Sophisticate!

Soleil!I know that many of you rarely move beyond these e-mails to experience the really cool ways that you can use the Soleil's To-Dos calendar online.  So, this week, I'm handing over links that will take you directly to detailed information about the specific To-Do that grabs your attention.  Take advantage of the links and find out what you've been missing!  Download a To-Do to your Outlook or other calendar, schedule a reminder by e-mail or text message, receive automatic e-mail or text message notifications of changes to your selected To-Do or forward a To-Do to a friend.  In this newsletter, you'll find information on over fifty To-Dos coming up over the next seven days!!!  How do I do it?  Don't you worry about that, my little cherub.  I just do.  Here's what you can do:  forward this e-mail to your friends, colleagues or numerous distribution lists.

Here's what else you can do - as a personal favor for me.  I'm looking for items to be auctioned at The Renaissance Collaborative's Annual Gala on September 25, 2008.  Our theme this year is "Lights, Camera, Auction" and will feature the extraordinarily talented Corey Wilkes! (Trust me, you'll get more information about this To-Do shortly.)  We're looking for big ticket items for our live auction and smaller items for our silent auction.  We can use donations such as roundtrip airline tickets (got extra frequent flyer miles?), dinner for two or four at your restaurant, cooking lessons, catering a special occasion for a party of _________ (fill in the blank generously!) or a product or service that your company sells.  Perhaps you have contacts that could provide hotel stays in exotic lands or domestic retreats, a time share, a wine tasting, a work of art, a musical performance or a date with Harry Lennix (trust me, that one wouldn't even make it to the auction block)!   I'd

greatly appreciate your generous, tax-deductible contribution and TRC and the community that we serve would certainly appreciate and benefit from your generous support.  Ideally, you (or your company), would also benefit from visibility at our Gala.  Please contact me for further details!

Okay - on with the To-Dos!

Stephanie!

Soleil's Take

I haven't been out to CCHT yet (it is, afterall, in a suburb), but a few questions come immediately to mind: (1) $45-65 is a lot of loot to sit on the lawn - is that grass padded or sumthin'? (2) No outside concessions?!?! That kinda takes the fun out of picnic-ing, doesn't it? Will I get out there and find $6 hotdogs and a $17 glass of white zinfandel and a $3 can of RC Cola? (3) How come Ravinia is sooooo much cheaper and let's you bring your own stuff? (4) You can't bring your own chair - you must rent one there? Come on, now - we must be up to $75 already - just to be on the lawn!

Tickets are generally $50-95, reserved seating; $45-65, lawn; $12-35, city hall lawn and pavillion seating. Visit the website for specific pricing and to purchase and print tickets.

Amble on in at your leisure and you'll still find room to enjoy the flick. Bring the kids, bring the dog and enjoy the summer evening! I've selected a few listings to include in the To-Dos, but visit the Chicago Park District website for MIP dates in a park near you!

Soleil's Take

This festival is crowded! Truly blanket-to-blanket. It's best to get there pretty early to stake out some turf. Lawn chairs are the best way to go because if you sit on a blanket, someone will inevitably park a lawn chair smack dab in front of you! A nice alternative to this To-Do is the Chicago Park District's "Movies In the Parks," which shows contemporary film and takes place in various neighborhood parks.
