Recognize a deserving Alumni in 2012!

The Alumni of Distinction Award is the highest honour awarded by Michener's Alumni Association. The award recognizes graduates who have made outstanding contributions to the community and the applied health sciences professions. Nominees must have graduated from Michener/TIMT at least 15 years before the year of nomination. Candidates should demonstrate career achievement and a real commitment to others. Introducing the Young Alumni Award - NEW for 2012!

Michener's Alumni Association recognizes that recent graduates are leading important initiatives, in and out of their clinical environments, to give back to their professions and their communities. For this reason, we are introducing a new award in our 15th Anniversary Year. The Young Alumni Award recognizes and honours young alumni who demonstrate significant professional accomplishments and commitment to others. Candidates must be Michener alumni who have graduated within the last seven years from the year of nomination. For more information or to submit a nomination, visit our website. 15th Anniversary Events!

Celebrating and Recognizing Michener/TIMT Alumni

On the evening of Thursday, May 31, 2012, Michener graduates from Diagnostic Cytology, Genetics Technology and Medical Laboratory Science joined Michener's Alumni Association for an event to celebrate and recognize our alumni on the occasion of the Association's 15th Anniversary in 2012. The event, held at the Hotel Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Quebec, offered guests an opportunity to network, reconnect and socialize with friends, colleagues, former classmates and Michener. On June 8 and 9, 2012, Michener's Alumni Association hosted a VIP Hospitality Suite exclusively for Michener/TIMT graduates to commemorate its 15th Anniversary at the ISRRT World Congress and CAMRT AGM. The suite provided a comfortable and relaxing space for alumni to reconnect with former classmates and with Michener in between attending sessions. 141 visits were recorded and 63 Michener alumni and students were entered into a draw for some fun door prizes. And if that wasn't enough, visitors were treated to chair massages, manicures and treats throughout the day. Thanks to all who volunteered and to the alumni who dropped in to reconnect, remember, rediscover, and re-engage. We look forward to staying in touch! Celebrating the class of 2012!

On Saturday, June 23, at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, Michener saw almost 200 graduates receive their various diplomas and certificates at a grand ceremony. The pride of our alumni was felt by all and was apparent in the excitement that emanated from the graduates, their friends and family, the faculty and staff. We wish the 2012 graduates success as they join their peers and strive to make a difference in the health care community.

Michener's Bridging Program - Part-time instructors needed

The Michener Institute's Bridging Program is designed to prepare Internationally Educated Healthcare Professionals for successful outcomes on certification exams and facilitate entry and integration into the Canadian workplace. We are developing a roster for part-time instructors to teach in the medical laboratory sciences and radiological technology (X-Ray) programs. If you are interested in future teaching opportunities, please send your resume to access@michener.ca. Please note, Bridging Program classes run on weekday evenings and weekends.

We are looking for Michener/TIMT graduates who are interested in helping us enhance our alumni programs, services and special events.
