President's Pen
|
This month we are mindful of the veterans who have severed our country along with the families of armed forces personnel. We have much gratitude for those who've served, fought and died for the greater good of our nation. They have all shown us that we too can make a positive difference in this world.
As you will recall, Kiwanis has made a decision to reinvent itself and break the mould for traditional service organizations. Our priorities include the attraction of more volunteers to enable us to provide more service to our communities. Our club is looking to provide community service through increased volunteer time, talents and treasures. Most likely this will be from our current members but also we need the help of family members, business associates and like minded individuals. There is no reason that we can not tap into our circle of friends, ask them for a couple of hours of help and, in the end, maybe they would like to join us for specific projects or on a regular basis.
Lets not forget that:
· The club is the membership
· It's where service is planned and organized
· It's where fun and fellowship takes place
· It's where membership growth takes place
Our projects and our service leadership programs are second to none.
Remember to invite a friend to join us and lets expand our world of acquaintances.
Yours in service,
Peter Harrop

The Kiwanis Club of South Edmonton serves the City of Edmonton and beyond.
With a motto of "We Build", a focus of "Children Priority One", our purpose is "To Collectively Serve Our Community" by doing projects and programs directed to children, the handicapped and the disadvantaged amongst us. We fundraise to finance projects that will make our community a better and safer place to live and focus our limited resources efficiently and effectively on doing things that are needed, but not normally offered or done by anyone else.
Once the fundraising is done, we then get actively involved in the project by providing as much of the hands-on work as possible, thereby creating a "full service" atmosphere for our members.
