| Community Support Fund to make immediate impact in basic needs |
Your help is needed for this new statewide campaign that all eighteen United Ways across the Commonwealth have launched. The Community Support Fund's goal is to raise money for the basic needs of fuel, food, and housing assistance for families and individuals who have been affected by these difficult economic times. United Way of Central Massachusetts is responding to the serious economic threat that is facing many of our family, friends, and neighbors this season. Even though UWCM continues to run the annual workplace campaign to fund programs and strategic activities that provide essential services for children, youth, and families, this additional basic needs campaign will mean 100% of all donations raised will be immediately funneled to local agencies that are providing assistance with three basic needs: food, fuel, and housing. In central Massachusetts, Worcester County Food Bank, Worcester Community Action Council , and Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance will receive all of the money raised in the geographical area that includes Worcester and 29 surrounding towns. | Mass 2-1-1 facilitates donations |
Donations will be processed by Mass 2-1-1, the free, statewide information and referral hotline supported by most United Ways in Massachusetts and then distributed by zipcode. Citizens who are able to donate should dial "2-1-1" and an operator will assist you. Just as important, however, is to alert citizens who are in need and don't know where to turn to get help that they, too, should dial "2-1-1" and an operator will connect them with the appropriate information and/or referral to address their need(s). Donations will also be accepted online at supportunitedway.org or by mailing a check to Community Support Fund c/o United Way of Mass Bay, P. O. Box 51381, Boston, MA 02205-1381
Thank you for your help!

Donate food The next time you're at the grocery store, add one or two items that you can donate. A bag of rice, a couple of cans of veggies, a few packages of instant soup, a jar of peanut butter. At the end of the month, take everything you've collected to your local food bank. Hungry children will thank you!
