Greetings!

Candy CornHappy Halloween and welcome to this month's issue of The Internet Minute. Hope you're getting your fill of candy corn (my personal favorite this time of year) and ready for the little ghouls and goblins for their trick-or-treating!

This month my "treat" for you is a whitepaper I wrote on blogging as well as some other tidbits that you'll hopefully find helpful. I know you're busy, so it's designed to be a fast read... Enjoy!

Special TREAT - Complimentary Whitepaper: Blogging to Build a Reputation Online

Blogging Whitepaper CoverThis month I've got a special "treat" for you... As you may recall from past issues of the Internet Minute, WSI publishes whitepapers on a variety of topics, written by fellow consultants from around the globe. Well, October was "my" month and you can download the whitepaper I wrote entitled Blogging to Build a Reputation Online.

In the paper, I talk about how a blog can be used to help businesses establish themselves as a credible source of information. By "talking" about what you know, your industry and other related information via a blog, that can enhance your reputation online and help increase the odds that readers will take the time to get to know you, like you and hopefully trust you with their business over time.

Be sure to visit my site to download the paper today and let me know what you think. Of course, if you have questions after reading it, give me a ring at (269) 841-5007 and let's chat. I'd love to help you with your blogging strategy!
99 vs. 1 - Which Side Would You Take?

With online review sites giving consumers the ability to "rate a business" with stars or written reviews, the the power of one disgruntled customer can override the 99 others that are completely satisfied with your product or service. The snipit from the popular review site, Yelp.com, is just one example of many of how customers are voicing their concerns online.

Banking Review

Dig Deeper - Check Out My Blog...
Diving a bit deeper into online reviews, I recently wrote a blog entry on this very topic and would be interested in your comments. Stop over and give it a read and then post your comments if you feel so inspired. I'd love to hear what you think!
Speaking Tour Almost Done (for this year at least)!

Lee, Eric and Jimmy
Lee Wetherington, Eric Cook & Jimmy Sawyers
Last month I shared my speaking (and travel) schedule and have been to Northern Michigan, Tennessee and Nebraska talking to banking and financial service professionals. While it's always great to meet new folks from all over (sharing some laughs and great stories), it will be nice to be home for a while.

During one of my last conferences (The Bank Technology Summit), organized by my good friend Jimmy Sawyers of Sawyers & Jacobs, I had the privilege of hearing many great presentations on the future of bank technology in addition to sharing my thoughts on search, surf and social Internet marketing strategies. One of the best speakers was Lee Wetherington from ProfitStars. If you've ever had the pleasure of hearing Lee present, you not only come away entertained, but better educated.

So naturally I was flattered when he got to sections in his presentation that pertained to social media, online marketing and fundamental website strategies, it was almost like he was taking the words out of my mouth. Interestingly, he actually presented the day after me, so despite never "comparing notes" beforehand, our messages were very similar! Thanks Lee!

Need a Speaker?
I'd love to come to your next event... I'm already starting to book speaking events for 2011. If your organization is interested in gaining a better understanding of the constant evolution that is taking place online, please keep me in mind. I'd love to come to your event next year and help create some excitement and hopefully teach everyone a thing or two along the way!
Thanks for taking the time to read my newsletter. If you have suggestions for future issues or questions, don't hesitate to let me know. See you next month...

Sincerely Yours,

Eric Cook, MBA
