Michigan Bankers Association BEST Conference Taking Video During The Event
This past week I was at the Grand Traverse Resort speaking at the MBA's BEST Conference, presenting on two separate days. As is the case with many of my speaking engagements, on Tuesday I talked about social media strategies. The second day, I changed it up a bit and talked about search strategies and how to get your website found online. One common element that was discussed in both sessions was the "power" of video and how it's changing the face of the Internet. In this issue of the Internet Minute, I'm going to offer some examples of video utilization in business and hopefully get you thinking about how it can benefit your business. This year, staff from the MBA was walking around with their own Flip camera taking video of attendees, vendors and speakers. While still too early to see what nuggets of wisdom they came away with, it's obvious they "get it" and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out! Factoid: Did you know that YouTube is the #2 search engine on the Internet, right behind Google? As more people seek to be entertained and educated (compared to ending up at your website and reading your pages), do you have a plan in place to use video for your business? If you'd like some help thinking over your video strategy, tools you need and ways to get the word out (there are other sites in addition to YouTube that you may want to consider), simply reply to this message or shoot me an e-mail and let's connect. |
Online Video Marketing: How Video Is Changing The Way We Find Prospects And Convert Sales Online
Video is fast becoming one of the most effective ways to engage and market to online buyers. In fact recent studies show that online video grew 124% in 2009, having over 18.9 billion views. This massive growth is changing the way we think about doing business online and is opening up new opportunities that are helping business drive online sales growth.
This month another one of my fellow WSI colleagues, Drew Himel, authored a great whitepaper all about Online Video for Businesses and you can download your copy today. This 8-page document can be downloaded by clicking on the image to the right.
Let me know what you think of the whitepaper. Personally, I think it's a great read and will be an excellent resource for you, especially if you're thinking about bringing video into your organization. Give me a ring to chat after you get your copy today. (269) 841-5007

Customers Use Video To Tell Their Story...
Visiting the new website for Sturgis Bank & Trust Company, visitors will notice photos of local landmarks on the home page and headers throughout the site. This community bank located in Southern Michigan has been around for over 100 years and is proud of their local heritage and commitment to the communities they serve.
For their 100th anniversary the bank created a video to celebrate this significant event. Marketing Director, Kurt Inman, had the idea to take a portion of this video and bring it to the Internet to help tell their story.
"We thought it would be a great way to put something different on our About Us page," says Inman. "Rather than give visitors a page full of text to read, we decided to take our anniversary video and let it tell the story of the bank."
Additionally, AmeriFirst Home Mortgage had WSI spend time interviewing a few of their customers as part of their site re-design so they could let others tell the story about their products and services. One of the best ways you can attract new customers is to get your current customers to talk about your products and services. As you will see from the Video Testimonials, AmeriFirst has some very happy customers!
The last example is nursing home and medicaid law specialist, Rob Longstreet. On his new website, which is designed to help families with the challenges of putting a loved one in a nursing home (and all the legal issues that surround this decision), Rob features a welcome video for visitors to actaully see and hear him welcoming them to his site. This way potential clients get an opportunity to "meet" Rob before reaching out to make an appointment.
