Speaking of new, as we look towards 2011 and all the possibilities it brings, we'd like to share some thoughts with you regarding social media marketing and the opportunities it could present to you.

Social media marketing is vital to businesses that plan to be around 10 years from now. Many people who are unfamiliar with the methods, applications and programs utilized in social media are hesitant to enter this new realm of marketing, but it's important that you do.
The benefits of social media marketing far outweigh the costs, as compared to traditional marketing methods such as print advertising, radio spots, etc. One example I love to site is this: Consumers do not generally say to their friends, "Hey did you see that ad in this morning's paper for Brownstone?" Instead, because an ever-growing percentage of the population now depends on their smart phone or computer for information, they "retweet," "like," re-post or "follow" something or someone they find interesting, thereby creating buzz about your business or product among their online friends. You as the business have done nothing but offer some sort of interesting content out to the world, and in turn, people will spread your message for you. Why wouldn't you want to be involved in that?

When did this happen to me?
I am 54 years old, and I have been in the insurance business since I was a child. I built the business the old fashioned way; by calling people, knocking on doors, writing letters and waiting for people to walk in or call me. This method has always worked.
When did it all change? When did I change? I now own an IPhone, an IPad, an ITouch, a Twitter account, 4 Facebook pages, 7 email accounts and a Linked-In account. I have designed, built and maintain 8 different websites. My latest that I built 2-weeks ago is www.montyslist.com (the best of everything on the South Shore.) Check it out.
