Deseeding Some Tomatoes That A Great Customer Sent To Me | | |
I'm not sure if you can tell from this picture but I have some seeds soaking in a jar of water and some drying on a paper towel. Two great ways to seperate the seeds from the pulp.
Thanks so much Keith I can't wait to try them!

San Marzano Tomatoes
The Most Sought After Tomato In The World
Have you ever gone to an Italian restaurant and fallen in love with their thick rich marina sauce? Did you go home and try to make it yourself only to have it turn out runny? Well if you ask any Chef how they get their sauce so thick and tasty they'll say it's in the tomato, the San Marzano tomato.
The San Marzano is known for its dense meaty pulp which makes for thicker richer sauces. It only has two seed pockets (as compared to most tomatoes which have 5 to 7 pockets) and fewer seeds or pulp means thicker creamier sauces. Chefs will tell you that sauces made with the San Marzano are so naturally sweet that they don't require any additional sugar (big plus when you're counting calories). So next time you get a hankering to make your own sauce try making it with San Marzano Tomatoes straight from your own garden (and then call me so I can come over and help you eat it:)...Mmm Mmm good!

EVER TRY A BLACK TOMATO? (Okay they're kind of purplish) These are some of the juiciest, best tasting tomatoes you'll ever eat. The sad part is you can't get them at your local grocery store....Soooo I expanded my collection of Black Tomatoes too. The Black Tomato has a smooth, smokey, less acidic taste that makes perfect tomato sandwiches, salads or just slice and eat. If I had to choose a favorite variety the Black Tomato is probably it and thats why I always have plenty of these guys growing in my garden. So if you get a hankering for something different try my new Black Krim, Black Sea, Black Prince or Midnight Star I guarentee your tastebuds will thank you! Click Here To Check Them Out

We've Expanded Our Cherry Tomato Collection
Ever go to the grocery store in the winter craving a juicy, great tasting tomato only to find what looks like a tomato but tastes like cardboard? Well next time you get that craving try Cherry Tomatoes. Not only are Cherry Tomatoes tasty but they are a great nutritious snack that won't head straight to your hips. Tomatoes are naturally low in Sodium, and very low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol. They're also a good source of Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol), Thiamin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Copper, and a great source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Potassium and Manganese. AND these sweet juicy morsels only have about 27 calories per cup. Good for you and tasty what could be better than that?
I like to call Cherry Tomatoes "Natures Candy" and they can really help you curb that tomato craving all winter long.
SO in honor of the Cherry Tomato (for getting me through the long winter months) I've made 2011 the "Year Of The Cherry Tomato" and expanded my selection. These easy to grow bush type plants are a great addition to any patio or small garden and they look great too! Check out my new Cherries at Penny's New Cherry Tomatoes and let me know what you think.
