Windows Into the Community"Windows Into the Community" Youth Art Project Exhibit
smARTspace at 78th (first floor)
Friday, May 21 , 5-9pm

"Windows Into the Community" is a collaborative public youth art project taking place in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood to help promote positive youth development and pride for our community. The project is a collaboration between Building Bridges, R.O.C.K. (Respecting Our Communities and Kids) and Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization in conjunction with four local schools: Joseph M. Gallagher School, Urban Community School, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and Metro Catholic School. Students have cooperatively painted boards to install on windows of homes affected by the W. 83rd Street explosion. This project is an innovative approach in response to Cleveland's efforts toward community beautification and demonstrates how local neighborhood youth can have a positive and creative impact on their community.

Accompanying the exhibit will be a free musical show by Amadem, a band of three 3rd grade friends from Bay Village who join us for their second public performance.  Named with the first two letters of the member's names (Emma on guitar, Amelia on drums/keyboard and Maddie on keyboard/drums), the band writes and sings their own songs and made their public debut earlier this year.
