Crazy Wisdom offer a wide selection of coffee drinks. (while you're here, don't forget to try some of our tasty treats as well!) Friday, March 2 - Bill Edwards
Bill Edwards is a songwriter. You know it for a fact before the first song ends. Whether it's blues-tinged advice or heart-tugging ballad, political wit or "bluegrass/livestock love song", Bill knows what makes a great song tick. That talent propelled him to a 1st place finish in the Country division of the BillboardŽ national songwriting contest. It's what makes others, from Lee Roy Parnell and T. Graham Brown to several independent artists, eager to cover his songs. Bill Edwards is also a performer. Blessed with a warm tenor voice, which can alternately rock out or smoothly caress, he always hits the spots that reach an audience's heart. Years of guitar-slinging in the popular East Coast band Blaze and countless solo performances have honed his chops to where the players in the crowd sit up and take notice. His slyly humorous asides between the songs keep folks entertained and wanting more. Bill divides his musical time between Ann Arbor, Michigan and Nashville, Tennessee. http://edwardsongs.com Saturday, March 3 -

Flourish: A Visionary New Understanding of Happiness and Well-being (Paperback) By Martin E. P. Seligman List Price: $16.00
Our Price: $11.20
(Save: $4.80 30%)
"This book will help you flourish."
With this unprecedented promise, internationally esteemed psychologist Martin Seligman begins Flourish, his first book in ten years-and the first to present his dynamic new concept of what well-being really is. Traditionally, the goal of psychology has been to relieve human suffering, but the goal of the Positive Psychology movement, which Dr. Seligman has led for fifteen years, is different-it's about actually raising the bar for the human condition. Flourish builds on Dr. Seligman's game-changing work on optimism, motivation, and character to show how to get the most out of life, unveiling an electrifying new theory of what makes a good life-for individuals, for communities, and for nations. In a fascinating evolution of thought and practice, Flourish refines what Positive Psychology is all about. While certainly a part of well-being, happiness alone doesn't give life meaning. Seligman now asks, What is it that enables you to cultivate your talents, to build deep, lasting relationships with others, to feel pleasure, and to contribute meaningfully to the world? In a word, what is it that allows you to flourish? "Well-being" takes the stage front and center, and Happiness (or Positive Emotion) becomes one of the five pillars of Positive Psychology, along with Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishment-or PERMA, the permanent building blocks for a life of profound fulfillment. Thought-provoking in its implications for education, economics, therapy, medicine, and public policy-the very fabric of society-Flourish tells inspiring stories of Positive Psychology in action, including how the entire U.S. Army is now trained in emotional resilience; how innovative schools can educate for fulfillment in life and not just for workplace success; and how corporations can improve performance at the same time as they raise employee well-being. With interactive exercises to help readers explore their own attitudes and aims, Flourish is a watershed in the understanding of happiness as well as a tool for getting the most out of life. On the cutting edge of a science that has changed millions of lives, Dr. Seligman now creates the ultimate extension and capstone of his bestselling classics, Authentic Happiness and Learned Optimism.
The Great Disruption: Why the Climate Crisis Will Bring On the End of Shopping and the Birth of a New World (Paperback) By Paul Gilding List Price: $17.00
Our Price: $11.90
(Save: $5.10 30%)
It's time to stop just worrying about climate change, says Paul Gilding. Instead, we need to brace for impact, because global crisis is no longer avoidable; we have come to the end of a world economy based on consumption and waste, where we live beyond the means of our planet's resources. The Great Disruption offers a stark and unflinching look at the challenge humanity faces-yet also a deeply optimistic message. The coming decades will see loss, suffering, and conflict as our planetary overdraft is paid; however, they will also bring out the best humanity can offer: compassion, innovation, resilience, and adaptability. Gilding tells us how to fight-and win-what he calls the "one-degree war" to prevent catastrophic warming of the earth, and how to start today.
Krishna in the Sky with Diamonds: The Bhagavad Gita as Psychedelic Guide (Paperback) By Scott Teitsworth List Price: $16.95
Our Price: $11.87
(Save: $5.09 30%)
A verse-by-verse examination of Arjuna's soma experience and Krishna's psychedelic guidance in the Bhagavad Gita - Explains how the Bhagavad Gita provides complete guidelines for the spiritual use of entheogens--from prior mental preparations to the integration of profound visionary insights into everyday consciousness - Examines Chapter XI of the Gita in detail to illuminate Arjuna's hallucinogenic experience and expose Krishna as the ultimate psychedelic guide - Shows psychedelic experience to be an essential and ancient part of the path to spiritual transformation Known as a text of liberation and enlightenment and praised not only by Indians but also by prominent modern thinkers such as Aldous Huxley and Albert Einstein, the Bhagavad Gita is one of the most commented-upon books of all time, yet one aspect has never before been examined: Arjuna's psychedelic soma experience with his guru Krishna. Drawing upon his many years as a student of Nitya Chaitanya Yati, whose teacher was Gita scholar Nataraja Guru, preeminent disciple of Narayana Guru, Scott Teitsworth explains how the Bhagavad Gita, through the story of the hero Arjuna and his guru Krishna, provides complete guidelines for the spiritual use of entheogens, from prior mental preparations to the integration of profound visionary insights into everyday consciousness. Examining Chapter XI of the Bhagavad Gita verse by verse, he illuminates Arjuna's complex revelatory experience and exposes Krishna's role as the ultimate spiritual guide--facets of the Gita evident to anyone with psychedelic experience yet long suppressed in favor of paths to enlightenment through service or meditation. He shows that psychedelics are indeed "gateway drugs" in that they stimulate open exploration of the mind and the meaning of life. Uncovering new depths to this revered manual of spiritual instruction, Teitsworth reveals psychedelic experience to be an essential and ancient path to ignite realization in the prepared student, turn theory into direct experience, and bring the written teachings to life.
