Friday, January 13 -

Dr. Mike and the Sea Monkeys -

are a highly entertaining folk and acoustic blues trio consisting of Mike Ball, Scott Clauser, and noted advice columnist Dr. Mike. As Dr. Mike is a fictional character, he never really shows up for rehearsals or gigs, which means that they are actually a two-man trio - this makes them really energy efficient!  They are occasionally joined by honorary Sea Monkey Peter "Madcat" Ruth, along with other friends such as Kitty Donohoe, Josh White, Jr. and Robert Jones.  Most of their music is original, based on the nationally-syndicated column What I've Learned So Far... and the book What I've Learned So Far... Part 1: Bikes, Docks & Slush Nuggets by Erma Bombeck award-winning humorist Mike Ball. The Sea Monkeys are also deeply involved with Lost Voices, a group that develops and implements songwriting and performing workshops for incarcerated and at-risk kids.  http://seamonkeyband.com.

Bobby Pennock
Saturday, January 14 -
Bobby Pennock/Kim Gnagey
-
Bobby Pennock is an accomplished singer/songwriter whose style, albeit unique, is reminiscent of those celebrated folksingers of the 1960s and 70s like Paul Simon and Harry Chapin (with a heaping helping of The Beatles thrown in), crafting songs that catch you off guard.  Listening to him play his music is like watching a good magician -- when it's over, you can't help but ask -- how did he do that?  Bobby's first album, 10,000 Stories, is packed with such lyrical tricks - a blend of humor, caged emotion, suburban Zen - delivered innocently enough inside smooth vocals and fetching guitar work.
Kim Gnagey
Kim Gnagey is a singer/songwriter born and raised in the Midwest. Her indy-pop sound encompasses a variety of flavors, including jazz, folk, acoustic rock and R&B, combining fresh harmonic structure and poetic lyrics with simple, memorable melodies. Kim's musical beginnings were in the church as well as community musical theatre productions, and then continued with choral and classical music training as a vocal education major in college.  Kim's voice has been compared to Adele and Norah Jones, and her songwriting to Joni Mitchell and Randy Newman.

Drawing on her decades of experience working with artists as an expert on the creative process, Cameron shines a clear light on the path to forging a direct relationship between the passion that ignites our creative work and the more practical aspects of living our lives (for example, how one can keep a roof over their head without losing track of their soul!) In this wise volume, Cameron gives readers the courage and permission to live their lives as they create their art: purposely and fully.

Troubling Dreams: Unlocking the Door to Self-Awareness(Paperback)
By Sadie E. Strick
List Price: $14.95
Our Price: $10.47
(Save: $4.49 30%)

A dream that terrifies is the internal gauge that should alert the dreamer to serious problems. This sort of dream can serve as a teacher/guide, revealing anxiety-filled areas in the dreamer's life and pointing the way to solutions through the use of symbols. The action in the dream is the clue or the "push" toward addressing the trouble spots. Dr. Strick reveals that through the use of dreams and their content, it is possible to access the unconscious for enlightenment and guidance. She shows how working through one's distressing dreams can lead to taking action to create a more fulfilling future.
Troubling Dreams: Unlocking the Door to Self-Awareness explores, through eight women's true-life stories, how to unlock the hidden meaning of troubling dreams. It documents the journey from powerlessness to healing and shows how to achieve personal empowerment through dream interpretation. Working through your dreams can alleviate depression, resolve anxiety and improve your self-esteem.
